So, I am  waiting waiting waiting for Portal to download (or the freebie anyway) and was wondering if any of you are gamers out there?

Which games do you love or hate and which are you looking forward to?

I am a pretty trenched in rpg fan and loved Oblivion, but have to say that I played my owners favorite genre, futuristic shooter types, and loved Mass Effect... I am totally psyched that they are coming out with a sequel (but in like, 2 years or something) and they are even going to make a movie.

I loved (and still do) Civlilzation Revolution, and have always liked the Sid Myers games.  This one is very simple to use and is a fun version of the computer game.

We rented and played Viking and that was good fun (kinda had to as Master is a Dane!)

Really didn't like Assassins Creed, though, the cinematics are really really cool.. the game was boring...or as far as I got with it before giving up was, and learning all those combo moves got really lame.

I am also totally addicted to Rockband, have gotten most of my family addicted and now we are planning a huge Rockband tournament over thanksgiving  when we all get together (my nephew is bringing his xbox and we are bringing ours) for the ultimate family rock off!  (We had to come up with an alternative to our annual Trivial Pursuit war as my dad's girlfriend has gotten a bit out of control competitive in!) recent years... we are going to have to cut off her Jeopardy, I think).

Master loved Bioshock... that first person shooter thing is not my bag, but I love to watch him play as the scripts and story lines, music and artwork are amazing.

So any suggestions?  Any warnings?

Wonder how that download is coming.....

I am not a gamer, that type of entertainment seemed to have passed me by, except a brief exploration into the joys of a play station two a few years ago where the only game I played,(for over a year) was Ratchet and Clank. And seeing as I never finished the game, it is on my mind to carry on where I left off, blasting machines with all weird and wonderful weapons really tickled me.

But this past weekend and a couple of days beyond, I was treated to the delights of 'wii' and a most excellent game of which I participated as an avid spectator, the game, ''Dead Space'', courtesy of Darcy of the delightful duo ; Darcyandthedark.

Dead Space was a visual treat, never mind it's horror content, it being a bit on the macabre side, the graphic and details were fantastic and to me, more like an interactive movie, the viewing screen size did help with that effect I think.

Hmm, maybe I should make more effort to look more into getting console equipped, got to get a tv that works full time first though.

Ahhh yeah, Master is playing that now.  It is cool... again, it is not the kind of game I am at all good at (he is!), but it is fun to watch... like an interactive movie.  If you liked that you would really like Mass Effect and probably Bioshock!

The only gaming I do is Table Top RPG's.
With a little Star Craft here and there. But I have heard great things about Forced Unleashed.

Star Craft is an old PC game.
Force Unleashed is an mutli-platform game. Infact, it's for the Wii. So I don't know why I didn't get it.

I'm mopping up the PS2 back catalogue and have nearly 200 now, some yet to be played beyond the intro. Been picking up classic games and Japanese imports.
Will probably move up to the Wii when it is more sensibly priced. I like variety, expensive systems mean you soul search before only getting one or two games.

Well, that's true but thankfully, some of the games are so extensive and long, in terms of plot and total game play hours, that they are more than worth the investment (Oblivion and Mass Effect come to mind).

Hello puella,

I played Asheron's Call online for roughly 5 years or so. Quit for awhile, then started up again and still have the subscription going. I don't play too much anymore cause the real world's just so damn adventurous. :-)

Anarrus

oops..just realized you are talking about xbox games..

I am playing the beta of Call of Duty World at War right now.
Besides that I play Battlefield 2.
Both are multiplayer online games.
(on pc in my case)

Many years ago I played tournaments in a clan for a website. Medal of Honour it was then.

the games relax me...I play at least 1 hour. (used to be 4 :P )

I don't download games but i do spend most of my free time playing games on pogo.com.

My daughter's b/f works in the games division of Microsoft and i think he owns every game system and game available. His current job is to debug games about to be released so he gets to play all day long and is well paid to do so.
