Well, I would have added my voice to the chorus singing, "get thee to a doctor," but since you’ve made the appointment, I can relax a little.  But only a little.  You are one of my favorite people on Collarme and I don’t want to have to worry about you but now I’m going to until I hear an update that says, “I’ve been to the doctor and it’s nothing serious."  Keeping you in my prayers.

Marc2b.

As a nurse... please go check this out and i want to forwarn not to take advise lightly.. example here and i mean no offense but pagets is a bone diesase not a rare breast cancer.. just  some friendly advise from a medical person...check it out as soon as you can and i know it is expensive and insurance sucks...thats a whole different rant for me..i hate that it rapes the american public.. there are alot of ideas here and some may be true for you but watch what advise you are given..thanks and good luck....

quote:

ORIGINAL: CalifChick

Some causes of nipple pain:

1.  Rough sex
2.  Jogging without a bra
3.  Jogging with a poorly fitting bra
4.  Paget's disease (a type of breast cancer - rare)
5.  Zuska's disease (a condition affecting the ducts; nipple pain is one symptom)
6.  Benign breast tumors (which may or may not be affected by hormonal fluctuations)
7.  Bacterial or fungal infection (even though the skin may appear normal)
8.  Inadequate natural lubrication (there are oil glands on the nipple that keep the tender skin in good condition)

Generally, the follow treatment will help until you can see a doctor:
1.  Hot or cold compresses (try both or alternate, see what helps you; generally hot compresses are best)
2.  Wear a good supportive bra that has no seams across the nipple
3.  Eliminate caffeine
4.  Take ibuprofin
5.  Take oil of primrose capsules (available over the counter)

Well, people (myself included) around here are all riled up, one way or another, by the election so I’m thinking it might be time to take a break from the Message Boards.  I will, however, be checking back to hear the good news from the doctor.  I do want to know that everything is okay.  Be well.  Keeping you in my prayers.

two more days until I go to the Dr.

suddenly, I'm worried and scared.

It's probably just something minor.. but still.

Thank you GT  ..and I am hoping what ever it is . that it is minor ..but my warning was coming from personal past  experience  and also because  of something I am going through at the time... my doctor ordered a  chest x-ray   due to my heart problems  and  at the time of your post a shadow showed on the right lung which possibly could have been nothing more than the start of pneumonia and I was started on antibiotics   but I had agreed to  go right ahead with CTscan   .... yesterday i got the news  and  it  is not pneumonia ..so it was lucky  I agreed to test further as it appears to be early and very localized  in the small lobe of the right lung ..right now waiting  for the call to go for a biopsy and scope of the lung.   . I have beat cancer once before.... so hopefully  will beat again   and so far  it looks like a good possibility  due to size and location and I am trying to focus on that  to help me get thru this .. but I have found the worrying and being scared is very normal and even helpful    if nothing serious it will be a huge wave of relief as was the case when I had breast lumpiness checked out... .. if it is bad ..then  it is not as hard an emotional hit  as your mind is already preparing you for the possible news.... the first time .. a mass was found during a paps and an emergency surgery was scheduled..so I took the news considerably  harder then than I am this round

Greedy,

Let us know how it went this morning! Nipple pain is no fun at all...ok, I take that back, it is sometimes fun.

Fingers crossed, hopefully it is all harmless but having it checked is definitely better
