this'll be my last question about hairdye for a long time prommise.

When my friend and I were kids we used cherry koolaid, we boiled it and let it cool then poured it into our hair, and yeah it actually worked, I had brownish pinkish redish hair for a couple of washes.

My question is, would other colors of sugar free koolaid work?  What about the jello gelatains?

With me, it washed completely out with in 3 or 4 hair washings, and I'd be ok with it not coming out for a long time  I think.

I LOVE HAIR QUESTIONS!!!! HAHAHA!  You guys make me feel important! lol

Anyways, Yes, they would work... the darker your hair and the less damaged it is, the More they will show... If your hair has been bleached, it would show up better, and would stay longer...  If you Are going to try it, I would use very warm water to wet your hair, use the koolaid, and rinse with cold... and maybe use conditioner.. it will close your cuticle (outer layer of your hair for those of you who don't know) and will hold it in longer...

Plus, make sure you don't use a good white towel or something for drying.. I used a Semi-permanent color on my hair (Atomic Magenta.... OOOOOOOH YEAH!!!!!! :-D) And it stained the tub, the shower curtain, the towels, my body, my UM when he got a bath next..... Yeah... wasn't good... lol

However, I would NOT try the jello... unless you use VERY little of the mix with LOTS of water.. and even then, I don't think I would... Not with the weather getting colder... you will have a jello mold for a head... lol

And don't promise not to ask questions like this!! I LOVE THEM!!

I've found it sometimes helps to release the pigment in the kool aid and help seal it to the hair if you mix it with a bit of ph free conditioner and leaving it in for a while.  The longer you leave it in, the darker and richer the color, but it's dye, so seriously, be careful.

Also, the conditioner helps keep the kool aid from getting all over the place.  And that stuff can stain anything!  (the white porcelain sink in my bathroom for example...)
