Wolfgang compared the plight of groups such as the Family Institute, which favor a traditional definition of marriage, to the anti-abortion movement after Roe v. Wade. "We will work for the day when marriage as between a man and a woman will be protected and restored in Connecticut," he said. "In the meantime, we will work to limit the damage."

As if the time and effort could not be better used elsewhere. What a waste of space.

They should be able to obtain them on any day, IMO.

I always get a kick out of those claiming we need to "protect" the institution of marriage. LOL. Divorce rates among heteros, last I checked, was still hovering around 50%. And divorce rates among Christians, the group that seems to clamor and yell the loudest about said protection, is at the same level.

I've seen nothing to indicate gay and lesbian marriages have been the cause of those high numbers.

It is damned hard to prepare a set of legal documents for a same sex couple which mimics the rights and duties of the married. Each question of property rights, next-of-kin, etc., has to be addressed in advance by some sort of document/contract/etc.

Even so there are unexpected events in folks' lives. There is a Family Court system here for the benefit of married and formerly married people. I don't see why we should bar the courthouse doors to gay and lesbian couples.

Can anyone explain this "damage" to me without referring to religious dogma?

My marriage frankly is unaffected by anyone else getting married or not. Any affects someone else's marriage has ever had on me is when we are friends with them but they could be single people and have the same affect on us.

I'll tell you what the damage is,,,,,,

We had a gay couple buy the house next to ours. You know what they did!!!!!!!! OMG they painted their house with a color pattern and had professional landscaping done!!!!!

Now my wife wants me to repaint the house and either do new landscaping myself or hire someone.

I can't compete with a color pattern. What's wrong with the front yard, it has grass, a tree and the old washing machine I have yet to move to the curb?

I meant to post on this- but I hadnt. The protests are going to far. It is embarrassing. Black gays being called N and such by white gays. the heat being put on churches, and a national protest planned for the 15th.

in this area- a protest would draw the wrong kind of attention. modesty is a bonus here, not boldness.
