Have you tried bio-identical hormone? These are precusors.

Well my beautifully regular period is back extremely light for the first time in about a month since my first depo shot ran out (no periods while on it). I had some breast lumps for the first two weeks on the shot but they quickly went away and the doc said it was no prob. I'm so please with my results on it that I am going in for my next shot as soon as I can. I love it! No periods, slightly lowered sex drive (a good thing for me ;) ), no obvious weight gain, I think my tits grew more (could be separate, but I doubt it), and my skin got better. Can't wait! So glad I found a reliable long-term b/c method. Hope everyone else does! And my bf is considering a vasectomy when he can afford it. I feel too lucky right now! Sorry if I'm rubbing anything in but I had to vent. I rarely do a happy vent. Ugh I'll shut up. I say-one hormone (in depo) is better than more (shot, pill, ring,etc...) at least for me cuz i hate pumping my body full of unnatural things (cept toys of course).

The only thing i know about Depo is that it can cause bone density to weaken and therefore one should take a calcium supplement. i was debating a little while ago about getting the shot but i changed my mind due to to many negative things about it. i just stuck to the pill and so far that is working out well for me. i had a thread i started called "Birth Control" a lot of people commented about Depo on there, you should check it out if you want to.

I had a horrible time with depo. It completely destroyed my sex drive. I had very heavy periods, to the point I was rushed to the ER twice becuase I was hemeroging. I had extreme mood swings and gained 75 lbs in a yr from it. I now have my tubes tied so no more worries but before that I used the nevuo ring I really liked it...put it in and forgot about it for three weeks...take it out for a week have your period (which BTW was very light) then put a new one in and start over. It was great.

Since this thread has been revived I'll add my .02 about depo.
Evil stuff when it hit my body. One shot after giving birth to yet another unmentionable
lasted almost 2 years. Periods were extrememly light for months, but totally unreliable
in their timing, some would last weeks. You never knew when they'd start, or finish.
Then there was the weight gain, the headaches. Combign the never knowing when
they'd start with the ever growing image in the mirror and sex was last on the list.
All that was in the first 6 months, I knew I'd not have another shot of it. But, it held
on, and on, and on, and on............. until the big H word was a necessity.
I'd Never do it again or suggest it to others even if many have no problems with it.

I used to use Depo. I did have problems with weight gain and migraines. The worst was the mood swings though. Now I am on Seasonale, and only get my period 4 times a year. It seems to be a nice middle ground for me. It does not have the side effects I experienced with Depo and I do not have to have my period every month either.

The LuvDragon only experienced the weight gain. She only took one shot, and that was enough for her.

I've been on Depo for two and a half years now. I have not gained weight, I have no periods, no PMS, no mood swings, no acne, no migraines, no change in libido, and no pregnancy. I get suicidal on trilevel pills, got preggers on the low-level pill.... I love this thing!
