no, but i have seen the miracle leeches still deliver.  and i have seen the disasterous results ritalin can produce,  shall we go tit for tat here?

Leeches just drink your blood, good and bad, same as a blood-letting. I can see how maggots eating raw flesh out of a wound would actually be beneficial... but whatever...
Ritalin is over prescribed, mostly due to parents who are not capable of handling and raising their children (please note I have 3 kids who DO have ADHD, it's not easy, but medication is not always the answer) Just because there are (bad) doctors and parents out there who over medicate children (and honest mistakes get made by everyone) doesn't mean all new medicine is bad.

nor does it mean all old advice is bad either.  your backpeddling yourself into a corner here.  many women on these boards have tried all these methods, its what works for them.  just because your Dr found a pill that cures all the ails, in his eyes, doesnt mean other methods dont work.  not to mention, i would highly question a Dr who refers to other Drs who have been in the field a long long time, and find a solution that works for the majority of their patients and tries that method before adding more costs to the rising cost the patient already has for health care.. as not worth their salt!

HAHA... that's actually funny. Actually, maybe if we all caulk our vaginas shut, we wouldn't have to worry about this kind of thing anymore.[sm=LMAO.gif]

I'm basing my trust in his opinion on many different factors, including him saving mine and my twins life several times during the pregnancy, and actually managing to keep me from getting preeclampsia, which I had with all of my previous singletons. No school is all good, or all bad. We're all a little nuts.

you have found a Dr you trust.  i congratulate you.  dont discount wisdom and years of experience for the new and improved model either, dear.  your young, with young ones of your own.  im old... almost twice your age.  been in those trenches.. and between those thighs of many women with your problems and much more.  im glad what works for you, works.  yogurt doesnt work for me, internally.  i wont use it externally for the same reason.  but i am the odd ball.  and while you and your Dr may feel its not a plausible treatment.  hate to tell ya.  do a google, you will see many Drs, medical web sites, ect, disagree with you, imcluding the AMA and the ANA.

Well, that's what the forums are for... posting our opinions/advice. Some is good, some is bad, some is neutral. If it works for some, then more power to them for finding what works for them. I personally abhore the idea of yogurt in my most private of places, and have been advised against it. It's just my POV, like all the other posts with recommendations.

I do have to say, that I would be too scared to put anything with "acid" in the name, anywhere near that part of my anatomy. LOL

tazzygirl -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 12:39:57 PM)

ah, the advantages of being young... how i miss that

Lynnxz -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 12:44:47 PM)

Wow. O.o

Yeast infections are serious business to some folks it appears.

I get infections on a regular basis, I have a screwy body chemistry I think. After several monthly trips to Planned Parenthood for roughly 100+ a visit to get diflucan- (The OTC meds do nothing) I started using Boric Acid  when it was suggested too me by the nurse practitioner. These work just as well, if not faster for me than the diflucan, and have the benefit of being much cheaper. Don't mind the "acid" part, it made me wary as well at first, but it is not harsh at all.

You should look around your area for Urgent Care Facilities as well. There is a guy near me who charges 40$ for an uninsured office visit, and the rest of the treatments are extraordinarily low cost. I took a friend there to get a nail yanked out of his foot- he got the tetanus shot, office visit and a regimen of antibiotics for $55. You might want to hit one up just to make sure it really is just a yeast infection, and not complicated by anything else.

On a side note, yogurt is nothing but a mess for me. It might work for some... I'd go buy some probiotics from a health store if you are really into it though.

RainydayNE -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 12:46:18 PM)

it's definitely a mess
but it's only 40cents for a little thingie =p that's pretty good

You've obviously never had a bad infection, hun. If it goes untreated and gets bad...the cream will burn and it is pretty unbarable. The first infection I had got bad b/c I didn't know what it was and by the time I used the cream, it was SO painful after putting it in...I coulnd't even lay down b/c I was in so much pain. I told my ob/gyn about it and she said it was normal.

I used get them every month right before my period.  I don't get them as often now that I'm no longer on the Pill.  I've had them bad enough to make my skin crack and bleed.  The only time the yeast cream ever burned was when I used one that caused an allergic reaction.

My youngest also had a problem with yeast infections because of his eczema.  Again, the treatment didn't burn even when his skin was bleeding from the infection.  MY docs have always told me that severe burning from the cream isn't normal.  The cream may sting (and sometimes it does if I'm particularly irritated) but it shouldn't cause excruciating pain.

In fact, I'm looking at the warnings on a box of generic Miconazole right now and it says the irritation from the cream should be mild.  It also says to stop using it if one experiences fever, nausea, abdominal pain, a discharge that smells bad, or if her symptoms get worse.  Granted, the OP didn't say the odor was bad, just odd.  So it could be a yeasty smell but there's no reason to take chances with her health.  If something isn't right, see a professional.

Leeches are used to create anemia. Bacteria feed off iron, therefore becoming anemic can help with an infection...or so the theory goes...thats why they say women tend to live longer than men b/c they lose blood and iron through their monthly. And why more women than men lived through the plegue (good God I can't remmeber how to spell that word at the moment...sorry.)

ToFindYou07 -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 2:27:45 PM)

lets not argue in my post, everyone...

anyway... i feel particularly nauseated thismorning (afternoon, i guess... i didn't sleep at all last night after the pooping incident... )

i'm very raw... and feeling very uncomfortable... though i was brave enough to make a trip to the laundry room to get some clothes cleaned -- mostly because i'm running out of comfy underwear.

i sent for the pregnancy tests in the mail because i didn't want to go to the store again... my mail box is much closer than the grocery store, and at the time, i was feeling tremendously uncomfortable... too uncomfy to force myself back to the store to buy one.

the smell, which i keep forgetting to mention, is GARLIC... not fish, or yeasty smelling (unless yeast smells like garlic, but i wouldn't know)

i will test as soon as they come in the mail... and let you know the result...

windchymes -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 3:17:45 PM)

I don't mean to laugh at anyone's misfortune, especially a yeast infection, cause I've had some doozies.

But....I couldn't help thinking that, if you ever wanted to punish a man, tie him up and force him to read this thread! [:D]

ToFindYou07 -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 3:21:06 PM)

if my memory serves me right, we haven't had any male responses... and yes, it would be SO much fun to do that... you're right...

it's not that it's excruciating... because it's not... i'm just a wimp and can't take anything that stings even SLIGHTLY near my pink parts... or any parts, really...

I hear that.  I may be a sadist, but I'm a wimp when it comes to my own pain.

Lynnxz -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 7:18:35 PM)

Ooo! Don't they have those new little testing kits that will check for UTIs, and another for yeast infections? I think I saw the yeast one by all of the creams and such at Walmart, and I'm positive there is one for UTIs, you should check it out.

ToFindYou07 -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 7:28:03 PM)

i saw them too, but they're $20 a piece... not in my price range.  i'm just going to go to the doctor next week if i'm not considerably better...

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: i have... (a medical question) (11/20/2008 7:31:06 PM)

I tried them.  They weren't very helpful.  All they do is measure your pH to tell you if you might have an infection and, if so, what sort.  If you have a yeast infection, your pH is within the normal range so it won't tell you for sure that you have one.  Don't waste your money.
