How long from depo shot renewal is sex safe?, that is to say I mean if you have sex on the 21st and your shot comes due again the twenty third, are you still under the birthcontrol umbrella?

This is taken directly from the Depo-Provera wesite and should have been included in the information given to you before you got your first dose.

Greetings,

my sister in law had sex a week after her shot expired and she hadn't got her new one.... now i have a niece.

i'm sure it varies from person to person though... when i stopped getting it i didn't get a period for over a year... doesn't necessarily mean i was "protected" that whole time though.

i would recommend letting your Dr know immediately and go by his/her advice.

I don't get periods siasma I haven't for the entire time I've been getting shots, which has been since like a bit before 2003. They stoped imediatly after I started which was one of the things I'd hoped would happen.

Their info don't help me much, I'm not weeks late my shot expired 2 days after sex. They didn't say anything about how effective it is up untill expireing.

Since your situation is so unique and different from the ones outlined in the information that was given to you I suggest you call your doctor and ask

siasma belive it or not we were not given any info packets when I got depo, I told my dr I wanted it and I got a prescript. But yeah I read the website.I gotta get my shot tomorow and I can ask, it never hurts.

i was on depo for horrid cramps
i was told it can take 1 year to get preg after going off it
i didnt have a period for entire time
took me 4 months to get 1 after
and your dr should be explaining all this to you
and if youre having sex, my dr always did a preg test but i wasnt i honestly just had god awful cramps

It is true that it can take a year after the shot expires to get pregnant. However, some women will be able to get pregnant immediately. When the shot expires, your body has the potential to ovulate. If you do, and you have sex, you may get preganant. 2 days is low risk, you will most likely not get pregnant. However, it is possible. I would suggest getting a pregnancy test, and if negative, get another shot.

I got the shot and went on as normal, lil one a pregnacy test is only nessisary if you missed a shot stoped the shot or had the slightest chance you might be pregnant, when you take dep one right after the other like posta pregnacy tests are not the usual procedure.

As long as you are taking your shots on schedual you will be safe at any time of the depo time table.
