ORIGINAL: osocurious I didn’t get to see it, but read with great interest that Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton WON the fight against Paulie Malignaggi Was there anyone here who actually saw the fight?? I saw it, Osocurious. It wasn't a contest. The other lad bottled it completely. There aren't many fights at that level where one of the fighters wins every round bar one. quote:
ORIGINAL: osocurious I Absolutely HATED Hatton’s fight against Floyd (insert colorful bad language here) Mayweather … but find it really interesting that Now, Mayeather’s father is helping to train Hatton. There is no one to touch Hatton at his natural weight - junior welterweight. He will never get beat at that weight. I would like to see him fight Mayweather again because I feel he has some unfinished business. Hatton stepped up a weight, and an extra 7 pounds is everything in boxing. Mayweather is a far bigger man, and Hatton's game is all about bullying his opponent and getting right in his face - you just can't do that against a bigger man. Except he did - he pushed Mayweather back, but the referee Cortez kept pulling them apart and didn't allow Ricky to fight his game. The feeling over here is that the booing of the US national anthem pissed off Cortez and he had his spot of pay back by not letting Ricky do what he does best. There wasn't much in it until Ricky had a point deducted and that is to his credit considering he had stepped up to fight at the other lad's weight. The other thing is that when you've fought at 140 pretty much all of your life and you step up to 147, it's like being hit with a sledge hammer because you've never tasted it before. I would have Mayweather down as favourite, but with a different referee letting him fight his game, you just never know. De la Hoya is far too big for Ricky, but Ricky would fight him as he's a game fucker who would get in the ring with Tyson in his prime.
