Happy Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

There are many things I am thankful for..some of them being some of the people I have met through CM and become friends with. I am thankful for the massive drop in turkey prices at this time of year..I have 4 of them stored beyond the one I cook tomorrow. It soo stretches the shopping dollar. Yes I do the whole thing, the ham, the turkey, the pies et al from scratch...and I love it. It is a taking back of something that was ruined for me when I was younger..Christmas too, and Easter. It is really worth all of the work..

And I rarely have to cook for the rest of the week.

There is so much to be thankful for. I'm missing the thanksgiving dinner this year but we've all decided to have a "It's Not Thanksgiving" dinner, when everyone is healthy and able to be together. So tomorrow it's my mom & I with a thanksgiving chicken. :)

But I am grateful for so much. My life is considerably different now than it was a few years ago, and without the amazing love I am receiving from so many people, I would not be in such great shape today. Life is good, and I'm celebrating that fact tomorrow - even if it's with a chicken leg!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I am stunned!  Utterly stunned!  How can anybody not love pumpkin pie?  It’s the best part of Thanksgiving!  Sure the turkey (wild turkey in our family, never those overfed, over-bred domestic ones), mashed potatoes, squash, dressing etc, is all great.  Yum!  Yum!  Yum!  It is all meaningless, however, without the greatest pie ever!

Excepting, of course, muff pie!

Ah, well… happy Thanksgiving everyone.

You can have my share too!

winterlight -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving (11/26/2008 11:09:18 PM)

I have had homemade pumpkin pie and to be honest i really didn't think it was good. She must have missed something.

I am used to a certain brand of pumpkin pie purchased at your local freezer case.

I love pumpkin pie, peach, cherry, lemon meringue, ollieberry, lime pie. I have never had sweet potato, strawberry rhubarb, or pear and many others.

I'm stunned, too. I LOVE pumpkin pie, and I make it really spicy. Once I made it from scratch, from a pumpkin picked in my sister's garden. That took a whole lot of effort and really didn't taste much differently than making a pie from organic canned pumpkin, as I typically do. But I put in lots and lots of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger, and that makes a tasty difference. And real whipped cream, too. Yum.

Marc2b -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving (11/27/2008 7:05:59 PM)

I swear to God I am not making this up.

Tragedy has struck!

After a great traditional Thanksgiving meal I ambled over to the comfy chair next to my mother’s fire place for the traditional after Thanksgiving dinner snooze.  The laughing noise of the little ones woke me up after what seemed only a few minutes but was closer to ninety minutes.  My sister asked me if I’d like a piece of pie.  “There’s apple or rhubarb,” she said.

“What?  Are you kidding me,” I asked, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, “you know I want pumpkin.”

“The pumpkin is all gone; we’ve got apple and rhubarb left.”  She was joking, of course.  She had to be!  My face must have shown my shock and disbelief because she actually said, “I’m not joking, it’s all gone.  Apple or rhubarb – pick one.

                                                                                           [sm=jaw.gif]

I must have been in a state of shock because I don’t actually remember asking for rhubarb, I just remember eating it.  Now, I like rhubarb pie just fine but today it tasted like dry bitter dust.  [:'(]

Thanksgiving?  With no pumpkin pie?  I still feel like crying.  How could this have happened?

I have been cursed!  It is the only explanation!  Somehow, you weirdo pumpkin pie haters sent out some bad vibes that have cursed me!  My rage at you shall know no boundaries!  For what you have done to me, I in return curse you!  By all the gods and spirits that be I call upon them to smite you with my terrible vengeance!  From this day forward may everything you eat and drink taste like pumpkin pie!   Everything!  From breakfast cereal to your girlfriend’s pussy!  From chocolate ice cream to your boyfriends spunk!  EVERYTHING!  Bwahahahahahaha!  [sm=sodoff.gif]

Angry curses aside, I do hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.

Edited to add: Somebody let me know if my curse actually works, okay?  Juat curious.

I'm thankful that I was able to have a pizza for dinner tonight.  I have to go to the in-law's tomorrow and pretend to be normal for a few hours.  [>:]

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.

PS, I like pie

winterlight -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving (11/27/2008 9:29:27 PM)

Tonight i found out there is something that is wonderful like fried Turkey...that is smoked Turkey..Both are OMG heavenly.

Baked a cherry and a pecan pie. Everybody wanted cheesecake instead. So much for getting up early and making these.

:(:(:(

SavageFaerie -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving (11/29/2008 7:16:00 AM)

I am not fond of any holidays. My sister had plans to go to her friends like she does ever year. Since I do like turkey I made a small turkey with a few easy fixings Wed night so I could have left overs. I took care of the kitty so his insulin schedule wasnt late.

I happily spent Thankgiving quiet and on my own watching movies and napping the day a way.
Perfect day for me.
