Humor? A Dom shouldn't have a sense of humor!  Why would I want a dom who will ease up on that wonderful "domly" persona to make a wisecrack or, heaven forbid, quote an apropos movie line? Why would I want a dom who will make me laugh when I'm down or stressed out? Why in the world would I want a dom who doesn't take himself too seriously ALL the time, who can laugh at his own foibles and look at life through a wry lens?

I want a dom who lives to command- 24/7! He should constantly be imperial and serious! He should keep me in chains, tied to the foot of his bed all the time !! (except when he needs me to wash his feet, of course). He should look down on all those "wanna bes" who think that social intercourse is part of an M/s relationship.

I mean, really now, what twue Dominate shows humor to his slave??? He should save that for his when he's hanging out with his buddies (after he has his slave give them all blow jobs, of course.....)

My g-d, people! Didn't you read the handbook?

how important is it for you to know that your Dominant has a sense of humor?

Even a seagull has a sense of humour......watch one circle and dive 'round a fish for a few minutes, and it'll become clear......

Surely the type of humour is what matters.....

I mean, some bloke putting a fish in your handbag every Wednesday, would be humour of sorts. He may find it hilarious; perhaps you'd be slightly disappointed. It's fair to say it wouldn't lighten the mood.

We dominants do not have a sense of humor, except possibly to laugh maniacally while fastening some restraints.

.oO( ...maybe now I'll finally get T'Pol into bed?... )

al-Aswad.

Aswad (Master of the 5555 posts) is correct.  Humour is impossible for our logical minds to comprehend.

lally3 -> RE: humor (12/7/2008 4:45:07 AM)

its vital - and another one of those things you have to match up with.

nothing worse than attempting to laugh with someone who has a completely different sense of humour to your own.  you get that wierd fixed grin stuck to your face and that awful mirthless laugh  blurps out followed by that horrible awkward silence because you cant think of a thing to say thatll support their humour and save the moment.

just saying....[sm=abducted.gif] ... its one of those 'beam me up moments'

temptressofsouls -> RE: humor (12/7/2008 4:55:38 AM)

I *need* someone with a sense of humor. I crack jokes all the time, and see the humor in most things. I need someone who can put up with that ;)

Also, there is, sometimes in this life and lifestyle, a potentiality for things to go horribly "wrong," and humor is a great defuser. I got hit in the eye (my only sighted one) with a dragon's tail once, and my reaction, once i assure Him i was fine, was to ask teasingly that he please aim for the other one next time. He got all stammery and said it was an accident. I said fine, Sir, but have the accident on the other eye next time. He still didnt see the humor in it. If he had hit me right, he could have damaged or ruined the only vision I have. That's a heady thought, yeah? But the thing was, he could have, but he didnt, it was an accident, and he was remorseful, so why get upset? It's over, its done, and it was freaking hilarious.

CatdeMedici -> RE: humor (12/7/2008 6:35:52 AM)

I think if I or My sub did not have humor, I'd go nutso--however, humor in My world does not equate to brattiness.

Hissweetshiv -> RE: humor (12/7/2008 7:14:42 AM)

Absolutely without a doubt it's at the top of my list. If Master didn't have a sense of humor similar to my own, we would never have lasted as long as we have.

brownbutterfly -> RE: humor (12/7/2008 12:30:37 PM)

Humor is one of the qualities I look for in a partner. I want someone that can laugh with me and even at me(at times)...because I sometimes laugh at myself. Like the saying goes laughter is the best medicine.
I wouldn't want to be around a person that is serious all the time.

Yeah. Last time I let us sleep in†, she rewarded me by poking my face repeatedly in her sleep. The line of reasoning apparently went along the lines of "pat... pat... hair?... hmm... smack... forehead?... hmm... something soft... poke?... hmm... face?... poke?... yup!... poke!... definitely face!... poke!" Fortunately, my eyes weren't the recipients of any of those pokes, so it was rather funny afterwards. That I slept through it with little more than a few muttered complaints is probably rather revealing of how... animated... she can be when she sleeps.

When I find bruises in new places, I tend to have a good laugh. See, usually, she kicks while she sleeps. I always sleep with my back to her, or with one foot in a bracing position over the other, because I never get around to setting up that padded 2x4" down the middle. When she sleeps facing the wall, I will sometimes wake up from a loud bang that rattles the shelves and wakes the cat. By now, I've got the art of deflecting kicks in my sleep pretty well down, but whenever I find a new bruise in the morning, I know I still need to work on perfecting it.

Of course, if we find a suitable addition to the household, I won't need that padded 2x4" ... [sm=evil.gif]

Health,
al-Aswad.

† Used to be the other way around, but my sleep has improved.

a Dom is human, humans need to show emotion, humor is an emotion, therefore my Dom must have emotion to show he is human :)

bratnwranglers -> RE: humor (12/22/2008 1:03:11 PM)

it is essential... i am constantly cracking jokes and goofing off, i need Someone who appreciates that part of my personality.... and He does.... although i don't think its all that funny when He is laughing while telling me that i earned 5 licks...

Feliciasub -> RE: humor (12/22/2008 1:06:33 PM)

As i am a person who likes to have a good laugh, i don't picture myself with someone who is humorously-challenged ( is this an english word ??!! ) [8D]

Like the JOKER says: WHY SO SERIOUS ? [:D]

As she says, some humor is definitely a must in a relationship.  And yes I really do laugh when I'm telling her she's earned punishment :P

MarksFantasyGirl -> RE: humor (12/23/2008 7:27:38 PM)

Fast reply:

I wouldn't be NEAR as in love with Sweets if He didn't make me laugh.  Plus, with MY sence of humor, I would NEVER be able to sit down if I was spanked avery time I said something kinda smart ass. :)

LPslittleclip -> RE: humor (12/23/2008 7:40:43 PM)

humor is one of the many qualities of a relationship. i know my M'Lady is human i don't hold her to a unattainable standard of perfection.she is my dominant and i her submissive and part of a larger poly family.

bdaile -> RE: humor (12/24/2008 12:23:36 AM)

Humor is a must-have for me. I'm constantly making jokes and being sarcastic, and I just couldn't be with someone that couldn't appreciate that part of me.
