I like my insult of "I might be fat, but from what I hear your dick is small.  I can lose weight.  Sucks to be you." and then I block the moron. If they wanna try and hit you in the proverbial nuts, go back with twice the gusto and then laugh your butt off when they are left miffed in your mental dust.

I think that in a lot of cases, it is a combination of reasons as noted above:  we are well aware of the anxiety most women have about their weight, we dislike rejection, we don't think about the consequences of what we so flippantly say and one I haven't heard...we have to make it seem as if we were doing YOU a favor.  Combine all these with a predatory type OR be a little tactless in your turn-down of their attentions and any or all of them can come into play.

thank you for the compliment.  but i'm honestly not fishing.
men are complicated.  i'm just trying to get them.
this one is a dom, and the main reason why i don't chat with doms.
they don't get the idea that women aren't all ready to bow down to them.

Because getting you in a conversation with any remark is half the battle.

I do remember joking with a woman once about her "pot belly." I swear I meant nothing serious and she was obviously not fat in any way or I would have never said such a thing. Damned if she didn't go off on me bigtime. I learned my lesson.

Don't worry, it is a man's fallback insult to me too, and I *am* fat, so the reason they started talking to me was either 1.  *because* I was fat or 2.  because they wanted to get to know me and didn't care whether I was fat or not.

It is just a generic insult.  Of course I would tend to respond back with thanks for the compliment or thanks for noticing or something, which really confuses the hell out of the poor things, but that wouln't work for you since you're not fat.[;)]

I have an opinion on this matter....

Most guys grow up physically, but mentally to about the 16 year old mark, complete with angst.  Then they go to college, join a frat, and the mob mentality regresses them to about 13.  Then the drinking starts and they regress again to about 11.  And the real world hits them and they realize they are responsible for their own actions, nor can they 'have it all' like they did when they were in high school and in the frat, and they regress again to a precocious 5.

Which leads to the 'sour grapes'  attitude.  They were the popular kids, the jocks, the musicians, and the types that 13 year old girls throw themselves at.  Add to that a very healthy dose of 'entitlement', and you have the modern male who whines and complains acting like a 5 year old, complete with the childish comebacks.  They've never had to deal with failure, and was always told its 'not their fault.

However, there are those very far and few between who actually do 'grow up', and can handle rejection.
