There are a lot of emotions to process in the aftermath of even potential cancer.  I had a scare a few years ago and I had a lot to take a hard look at in its wake.  I began to feel the need to really evaluate things in my life and begin living more intentionally.  I battled my body image with regard to the surgical site and how it had changed the way I looked at myself as a sexual person.  I still have trouble looking at the scar without all the emotions and questions coming rushing back to me.  In some ways, it was as if my body had betrayed me.  It turned out the lump removed was not cancer.  For that I was grateful.  I still wrestled with these demons in spite of the good news.

She needs someone who can listen and help her make the changes she desires.  She needs someone who accepts her and reminds her everyday of how beautiful she is.  She needs to know is still a deeply desired woman and that you still want her sexually.  Just remember, physical healing is the easy part.  It is the emotional that will take time and a lot of care.

Best wishes to you and yours!

a couple links for you and your sub..she should take advantage of the support networks out there

I am going through cancer for the second time ..my first time was 27 years ago without a support network..and this time with other cancer patients who are battling and survivors ...and I find having the support network is extremely important with others that have shared experiences and can understand what you're going through..and the positive energy out there is incredible .

There is TONS of help!!Each breast cancer center generally has a support group.  The one in our town now has a competitive dragonboat racing team (Pink Paddling Power) and the physical activity of the stroke in paddling is healing. http://www.pppracine.org/  Walks.....  Susan Komen and Avon ...creates awareness. I love the Avon Walk cause it supports more than just research like Komen does. Online support groups http://www.breastcancer.org/  Great site for information! http://www.avoncompany.com/women/avoncrusade/http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=2http://www.craftsnscraps.com/jewelry/breastcancer.htmlhttp://www.pinkribbongirls.org/   VERY COOL SITE !!http://www.internetbasedmoms.com/breast-cancer-awareness/http://ww5.komen.org/http://pinkforoctober.org/http://www.mylifetime.com/community/my-lifetime-commitment/breast-cancer/petition/breast-cancer-petitionhttp://pinkwings.com/  This is a cool site.  When my sisters and I did the Avon Walk for breast cancer in San Francisco July 07, we had the grand privilege of meeting Courtney who IS Pink Wings!  She is now fighting , I believe her 4th reoccurrence as well as he cancer now metastasis.  You would never tell she has fought this hard. There are diets out there specific to the change in body chemistry and of course supplements that some MD's advice. There is the Sister Study http://www.sisterstudy.org/English/index1.htm This is research to find out about genetics and related family issues.  Both my sister and I did the study after my sister had breast cancer. We are Sisters Three when we walk as a team. Breast cancer support groups, diet, exercise, guided relaxation and meditation and  positive think talk are so important.  I hope there is something your sub can participate in to help her through it all.  She will never be alone in her fight, there are too many out there who know what she is going through. Stay blessed and well

I am currently undergoing chemo for breast cancer, as well.

Is she through with the bulk of the therapy (chemo, rads, hormone therapy)? Did she have a lumpectomy, lateral mx or bilateral?

I tend to hang out on the boards at www.breastcancer.org. The discussion boards are phenomenal...

i agree with all who suggest support groups. She needs to know she is not alone, and what she is feeling is normal.

And a hug and prayer to StubbornGirl and Maya. I hope the treatment is a success!!
