I am not good at all with short hair. does anybody have any suggestions as to what to do to keep it looking the same as the day i had it cut?
It is short with bangs and what products are good for the hair if it is ok to ask..

You gave your hair to charity ? That's great. Somwhere some kid on chemo will be alot happier. That's one way of giving that costs nothing. I tried but I can't stand to let it get long enough.

As much as I may rail against organised charity, the hair people are a different story. I would give to them in a heartbeat, if it was only long enough for them to take it.

it depends on where the hair is donated.  locks of love?  makes less than 200 wigs a year.  they sell most of the hair donated to them.  that is, if the hair is fit to be used, many of the ponytails collected arent stored correctly, or are color treated, or are grey.  none of those donations can be used for wigmaking.

human hair wigs take a lot of care and arent generally suitable for children...and actually locks of love is involved with wigs for alopecia patients, who have lost their hair to that disease and cannot grow hair of their own.

sorry for the tangent, having had long hair and been pestered constantly as to "when are you going to cut it off and donate it??" was a huge pain.  if you want to donate your hair to a charitable cause, that's wonderful.  assuming that someone else wants to donate their hair and constantly asking them why they havent done it yet is an invasion of their privacy, not to mention highly annoying.

Actually, winter, your stylist would be a better person to ask.  There are many different hair products for many different hair types, and what works good on one of us will suck on another.  It also depends on how you want to style it.

It do think it's cool that you cut it and donated it, though! [:)]

I did that a month or so ago.  I am finally getting used to my hair being short.

Kudos to you!

I love Aveda products. They keep my hair shiny and manageable, they smell pretty good and they're one of the only products that is sensitive enough for my skin. And I second the advice about asking your stylist how to style it. It never looks exactly like when you leave the salon but experimenting with it a bit can be fun. :)

I gave up on letting the stylists dry and style my hair because they don't know how to do what I do to the curl and cowlicks and I always come out of there looking like shit, lol.  I just drive home wet and do it myself.

I've donated my hair twice before. And there is a LOT of criticism to be leveled at Locks of Love, their business practices, and misleading the public on the work they actually do. Wigs for Kids is an alternate organization that provides wigs for kids with cancer and alopecia. Here's a link about donating: http://www.wigsforkids.org/hair-donations/donate-your-hair/hair-donation-information/

Geez. Guess that's one of the benefits of looking a little scary- no one has ever had the gall to ask me that. I recommend asking them when they're going to die so that their organs can be harvested [:D]

As far as keeping hair looking the way it was the day it was cut, why would you want to do that? Ugh. Nothing heals but time, unless you go for extensions, but that's really just too postmodern for most people.

11 inches?  What on earth was my schlong doing in your hair?

came4U -> RE: i had 11 inches of hair taken off my head today for charity (12/7/2008 10:51:15 AM)

I have thought about doing this for weeks...yet, I have had my hair long forever, no idea what to do either if i had short hair.
