@PanthersMom It's been investigated, and yes, it exacerbates the problem (by a LOT)... however, I'm more likely to get an outbreak when I'm relaxed (believe it or not) than to have it start while stressed. @Racquelle We've pinned the underlying cause as an auto-immune disorder of some type. Contrary to what you say, with *chronic* hives, there's often (as in, in 10% of the cases) no discernible cause beyond an auto-immune related illness. Unfortunately since there's nothing that can really be done about a mysterious auto-immune disease, and the only debilitating symptoms are these hives... we're focused less on the cause, and more on the symptom, trying to 'smoke out' the hives to make them no longer happen as a reaction to... well, anything. So I'm on high doses of four different types of anti-histamines, as well as daily steroids. I can deal with just a bit of itchiness, even the pain that accompanies them sometimes, but it's when they cause my joints in my hands, knees, or feet to swell to the point that those appendages become unusable that's the problem (and what throws me out of comission, really).
