YourhandMyAss -> What does my pc's screen resolution have to do with installing digital camera software? (12/6/2008 5:55:59 PM)

I'm trying to upload the program for my cannon powershot camera, and here comes this huge window sayin it won't put the software on my computer cause my screen resolutions not high enough

WTF?

If your screen resolution isn't high enough it means your video card isn't supported by the driver that you're trying to install and the cam won't be able to broadcast as well. my cheap fix, get a different cam cannons tend to want the most up to date stuff, sad but true.

An obvious question but have you set your resolution and colour to the highest setting and tried that. I've never encountered such problems with Canon cameras.

no, I don't know how to do that.

I have made it as bright as it'll go however if that's similar.

The Canon website is also good for drivers make sure you are installing the latest and in most cases that won't be the one that came on the disc in the box.

What operating system do you use?

Good answer, but it's a photography camera, not a webcam:)

Just a neat bit of info my webcam's a logitech, and I like it. I had two really expensive great ones and both died with in weeks of getting home due to carelessness on one part an an accident on the other so I won't get those expensive modles any more.

Go control panel, then displays, and work from there.  Sometimes you have to go into the advanced tab to change the resolution/number of colors.

You could also try to get the answer on google ("how do I change the resolution on the display").

instruction's are for xp.

you can also right click on your desktop(not on a icon) > properties > settings tab >

set color quality to highest should be 32bit

and screen resolution to 1024 by 768

if you don't have any available resolutions higher then 800x600 then your graphics driver is probally not installed.

If Vista type below in start search box. Then adjusted thingeymajig scrolling device to the right and check colour is set to highest.

desk.cpl

It's basically the same for other versions of windows but you put it in run box or right click on desktop area and select appearance.
