it's trying to equate anything other than the status in quo (i.e. the fundamentalistic nationalistic views) is equal to socialism, down to the red on the pack, with the warning that it will eventually contribute to an early demise through the serious risks to homeland security and the sanity of the populus. the sacred cow burgers . com was pretty tasteless.

nowhere did i see any references to rehashed fascism. the following is included just in case anyone wants to know (from a dictionary):

"fascism |ˈfa sh ˌizəm| (also Fascism) noun an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization. • (in general use) extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice.

Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach."

choice: the other system of views

i find it interesting (and reason to keep faith) that 90 people have looked at this thread, even though it only got 4 written responses. yes, i'm simple and easily entertained by such curiosities. : )

I figured if you had to explain it, it wouldn't be funny anymore.

I hoped that everyone would just leave it and not start a flame-fest (which is what happened, the flame fest not starting I mean), and I didn't want to wreck that, so I didn't reply [:)]

People must still be hungover from New Year's or something... usually something that hints of politics causes a seismic rupture.

Or they just wanted to leave it alone and not be put on suspension or have the thread deleted

i don't really see where anyone would be put on suspension. the OP put it up, another didn't get it, i objectively explained what i saw, and then i presented another viewpoint. since no flaming or subjective things were mentioned, i fail to see any grounds for suspension or thread deletion. the OP found it funny, i guess, as he put it in the humor category. others didn't think it was funny (including myself), but that's how humor and life go. different for each. "and i think to myself, it's a wonderful world."

Liberalism Lights, in a box please.

No, no, no, you misunderstand.
I was simply stating a possible reason as to why no one had replied earlier.

Seeing as how America is 0-3 in wars against concepts (poverty, drugs and now terror), it really doesn't bother me. Its just going to add to the conservative let down later on.

but you left out a few...there's commies, and people of ideas that differ, intolerance, and a whole bunch more. last time i checked, we all live on this planet, and what one group of folks does usually trickles down to affect and/or bother other folks. it's time to figure some things out, i reckon.

ZenrageTheKeeper -> RE: Liberalism (1/8/2006 10:48:51 PM)

We didn't declare war on intolerance. Hell, intolerance has always been a great political tool and no career politian would ever give that fall back up.

Lyndon B Johnson declared a war on poverty - which will fail as long as captialism runs unchecked.

Ronald Reagan officially declared a war on drugs - and for some strange reason tellign true drug addicts to "just Say No" didn't work..

George W. Bush declared the war on terrorism - This was just stupid. Terrorism is the violent expression of any extreme philosophy. So as long as people are allowed the right to bear arms and free speech, you know how that one is going to end up.

The one who declared the unnofficial war on communism wasn't a president, but Senator McCarthy, who might as well had been president with the political power he wielded.
