Personally, my dom strictly forbids me to touch alcohol in any form or amount, unless I am serving wine to someone. I don't even want to think about what he would do if he ever caught me with it.

Personally i do not top when i have been drinking. I dont drive when i even have one glass of wine as there is nothing more dangerous than putting a potential deadly instrument in someones hands while under even the tiniest influence. I am anal about it.

I have bottomed when intoxicated and i am more prone to stop play sooner under those conditions because i do not want to be hurt. i guess most peoples inhibitions are lessened while intoxicated but i do not get so intoxicated while playing that mine actually increase a bit.

I also refuse to play with anyone who has been drinking. The same rules that go for what i wont have done to me or to do unto others apply.

i am not a dr and have no knowledge really of anatomy beyond basic biology but if i recall right (and im not certain this is correct) but isnt alcohol a blood thinner? so while it might prevent clots or something it might make you bruise easier not sure anyone know?
be safe and keep asking the hard questions

Greetings.

Interesting subject! And I feel vindicated on my own decision by a number of the replies posted here.

I don't really drink, as a rule...  a case of beer will last me a year or so, occasionally I'll have a glass of wine with dinner, and hard liquor is strictly OUT under all circumstances. I outgrew that "drink you under the table" foolishness LONG ago...  and I have never liked to deal with anything that impairs my judgement or control.

With me, in a session or deciding to have one, alcohol is a HARD LIMIT!!!   Ditto drugs or smokables. That goes for any and all participants.

If I've had anything at all, ain't no way I'm going to get into a session of any sort. Even if I don't feel the effects at all, I fully realize that the effects on judgement and coordination can be quite subtle. Guess that's a leftover from having been a pilot at one time...   standing FAA rule is you stay out of the cockpit for 24 hours after a drink.

There is one, and ONLY one, exception to that rule.

When meeting someone new for play, or with an extreme newbie, I will permit a sub ONE drink to help her calm the jitters a bit; being more relaxed lessens the chances of accidental injury. However, I monitor WHAT that drink is (no triples of Wild Turkey allowed!), and always keep in mind that she HAS had one, and moderate my actions accordingly.
