but is it not the point to make sure that the neck does not get all whiney and tight?

comfort has nothing to do with it hun. Pillows ARE comfortable, but they put the neck into an unnatural position.

Yes it's the point, I only started having pillow problems with in the last 2 months, I am forever spoiled by growing up with two pillows lol anything else feels strange but anyway I'd get used to it to avoid neck aches.

hugs every one for being concerned about my neck ache. Thank you. It's not much but sometimes it's enough just not to have to be in pain byself.

FTopinMichigan -> RE: head and neck ache sever pain (12/29/2005 4:39:06 AM)

Hi, FP. I had "severe" neck problems once, but they were caused by something that I won't mention here. [;)] So bad, that I had to seek medical attention, and physical therapy for quite some time...but it was worth it! [sm=lol.gif] Also had whiplash, due to a car accident, and the warm neck packs were like heaven. The pain always returned after the heat was removed though. [:@]

I use acetaminophen, extra strength, which is 500 mg. Two of them are the recommended dose, for the more severe pain. You might try a higher dose from what you're taking now, as it shouldn't be too much. Extra strength, OTC arthritis meds are 1000 mg for a regular dose too, from what I've read on many labels.

When I was younger, I slept with two, and sometimes even three pillows. Don't know if it's the age thing, but I now only use one. It's MUCH more comfortable for me, and is better on the neck.

This year, I also bought a mattress topper, made from that memory foam stuff. I decided to purchase the pillow too...and there's nothing better, for me. Bought a set for my dad too, although he can't get used to the pillow, and he gave it back to me. I tried two again...and it's too much. This memory foam pillow really hugs the head and neck. You might try one, for support and comfort. I got mine at Sam's for under $30.

I hope you continue to get better.
K

I looked an our tylonal is 500 mils I thought it was 25o but that's how many pills are in bottle heheh an I always take two which is like a thoughsand. My mom has a memory foam pillow set I could ask to borrow one of those for a few nights see how I like them. I've had feather all my life and nothing else feels right any more, but maybe those will

Nendarye -> RE: head and neck ache sever pain (12/29/2005 4:50:22 PM)

Miss Feline,

If removing both pillows is too uncomfortable for you, you may want to try what Master had me do...I used to sleep with 4 pillows, two under me and two on my sides under the other pillows...he had me take one away at a time till I was using just one. It was strange at first, but eventually I reconditioned myself to sleeping with just the one.

You will have trouble sleeping and quite possibly be sore for the first week or two, but give it time.

I can only use a memory foam pillow (the ones that have to be specially made and run you about $60 to $80) because of a curved spine. It took some getting used to, but now I can't use anything else.

Be careful about that large of amount of Tylenol, there is a serious risk of overdose with acetaminophen, especially in young people. Even if you do not overdose taking large amounts of acetaminophen can cause severe liver damage.

Tinne I have some vicodin I just don't know where, all though vicadin was useless when I had my teeth pulled hehe all my good stuff I dunno it's here somewhere but undisclosed to me at the moment. Tylonal is stronger than advill, advils only like 200 and tylonals 250 same with aleeve, that's why I use it, Or I did lol I dun even bother taking it sometimes cause I know it agint gonna help/.

You can take more the the bottle says you can. It take a whole lto to od on tylonal or advil.

siamsa24 -> RE: head and neck ache sever pain (12/29/2005 7:03:30 PM)

Yes, it takes 4 grams in a 24 hour period to overdose, but if she is taking three and then two (I don't know how far apart the doses are) and then takes, say, TheraFlu or something you are getting into some serious high numbers there. Expecially if the doses are being repeated.
I just thought it was worth mentioning.
Besides, why would you want to build up a tolerence to a commen pain killer?

quietkitten -> RE: head and neck ache sever pain (12/29/2005 7:56:25 PM)

All drugs (prescription or OTC) have potential side effects and a person should never take more than the recommended dose.

As Siamsa said, Tylenol can damage or even destroy the liver. The effect is worse if the person has liver disease or uses alcohol. The max dose (again as Siamsa said) is 4000mg (4 Grams) in 24 hours. Anything more than that is dangerous. It is important to note that many OTC drugs have tylenol (acetaminophen) in them as well. Lots of cold meds and backache remedies have it in them. So make sure you read the labels.

Advil (ibuprofen) can cause high blood pressure and and over a period of time can cause heart failure especially in people who already have blood pressure problems. The other big problem is increasing clotting time. Quickest way to get a bleeding ulcer is to take too much ibuprofen.

If a headache lasts more than a few days, it is always best to get checked out. There are many non-serious things that cause headaches, but there are a few serious ones as well.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: head and neck ache sever pain (12/30/2005 1:13:24 AM)

I could prolly learn to only want one:) Your master was good to have you slowly cut back and it's good your comfy now.

My headache was back today for a few hours but it's gone again now.
