On 12-11-08 my local gas prices dropped 3 cents. Then on 12-12-08 the prices went up 8 cents. This is the first price increase I have seen since the they began the price freefall. Has anyone else had gas prices gone up in the last day or two?

Not so far. Down to $1.39/gal for 87 octane at the gas station where I tank up.

It went down from yesterday to today when I went to work. So no increase here. $1.43 is very nice on the ole wallet.

It seems to be roller coastering slightly... but most experts agree, that as the Bush economy continues to get sucked down into the quicksand, it will continue to pull the price of gas with it. So much so, that OPEC nations are discussing cutting production in order to shore up the world market.

The manager at a major trucking terminal came in screaming a few days ago.  The price of gas had gone up about $.30 per gallon.  We went through all the newspapers and also tried to remember what had been on the radio.  The price increase had to be because  because the Arabs were talking about cutting production.  The greedy bastards around here apparently only read the headline and rushed out to raise the prices.  They didn't read the rest of the article about reduced demand and the economy.  Speedy Mart 's actions set the pricing around  here and the stunts it pulls would be funny if they were not such greedy bastards. I have seen difference of $.60 a gallon when they attempt to really gouge and the majors do not follow..

I pulled into the  neighborhood BP the other day to wash my car, and noticed that the sign on the south side of the station was advertising a price of $1.57 a gallon. On the north side, an employee was changing the sign to $1.76 a gallon. First significant jump I've  seen in quite a while.

Yes.

(They'll do that).

And by the way...get ready for $2.50 by March 1.

It'll stay at that rate for quite a while...but it's going up after February.

Just had another small increase in local gas prices today. Up fourteen cents in the last three day. It could be the distributors and/or retailers doing their holiday price gouging though. So I will ask again if anyone else has had their local gas prices go up?

Ours was up 4 cents today to 1.87.  We just finished a 3 week, 7500 mile car trip around the country.  I guess it was well timed as fas as gas prices go. The lowest we saw was 1.55 in OH and the highest was 2.79 in CA. I think the average was around 1.69.

Not here, it's been holding pretty steady at $1.55 for reg, $1.65 for premium.

CL, $1.39??? Damn! Do you have a garage? If I did I'd be filling up about a dozen 55 gal drums.
