Petruchio -> 1950's Housewife (12/15/2008 7:58:01 AM)

On YouTube, I found a young 1950s housewife whose husband just doesn't get it:

Youtube isn't really news but okkkk. It seems they didn't compromise before marrying on who wants or can do a certain chore better or at least the way the other wants things done.

She obviously wouldn't last long with a marine who has to have even his 'under clothes' ironed a certain way.  If she isn't willing to learn then maybe it will never be the way he wants it, or just maybe he wants it his way no matter what.  As long as he is fine with doing it himself, she should get other hobbies besides dwelling on what she doesn't do well enough.

Interestingly enough over the last couple of months there have been several groups of people comprised of families with two kids who all agreed to live in homes furnished in the mode of the 1950’s with similar appliances hand pushed lawn mowers etc as part of two social experiments and to allow those involved to experience how their parents lived.
  I have some great memories of that period besides boarding school.. First we had an ice box so kids would follow the ice-man on his horse and cart on his daily rounds picking up large chips of ice from the bitumen road on a hot day. Then there was the milk cart where we’d take a quart pail to get it filled and of course who could forget the Dunny man driving his horse and cart loaded with both empty and filled dunny buckets. He’d have to go the dunny placed in the back yard and replace the used Dunny Can with an empty one after making sure no one was using the dunny….. heh  Mind you I did enjoy with other kids waiting till some unfriendly neighbour was sitting on the dunny reading a paper and after taping the handle of an old wire brush to a stick, quietly opening the rear dunny door, for removing the dunny can, and shoving the wire brush up the hole so the bum and balls were brushed with the wire brush.. More than a few got the shit scared out of them thinking it was either a snake ir small goanna.. BOL…….

Now that's evil, Bear!

Funny about the ice. Electric refrigerators and appliances were well established in the American Midwest, but you could still get ice from the "ice house" which was sold commercially in 10-16 inch blocks. It was sawn lake ice that was stored in sawdust-insulated sheds and had an amazing taste. Imagine having frozen Evian– this was 10x better.

I like it,  I like it a lot.  I would be lifting that dress up and bending her over the chair and taking what was mine.  I'd be happy with cold dinner every night.  I didn't hear a word she said I was just thinking of the things I would do to her.

Cute.  I would let her do my laundry any day.  Did she escape from the women, know your limits video?   To answer her question, I don’t think the husband is sabotaging *all* her efforts.  However, it doesn’t seem like they have a good communication about the retro project or he would give her the latitude to serve in all of her roles.

Actually, i think she's sabotoging things, herself...
She is dictating and telling him what she WANTS to do and HOW, and WHEN.  Then, when hubby isn't on board with her agenda, she calls him to task, and seemingly "compromises"....but still asserts herself. She has planned and mapped out the entire relationship, it seems.

Not sure about 1950's housewife. Seems more like Liquor Store Housewife, given the amount of 'whines' she was coming out with.

I didn't look at it that way, wasn't really listening to her, more thinking of what I would like to do to her, but now that you point that out.  I believe you are exactly right.  She is not fulfilling the role she designed but is scripting the project.
