I am interested in building/.procuring a bondage chair to also serve as my computer chair. Due to my peculiar "space efficient" home, the computer is set up in the entertainment center. Therefore, the chair does not need to roll like a normal computer chair. Swivel would be a nice feature but is not necessary. I would like for it to be able to be taken apart for efficient storage on rare occasions when that may be necessary. If possible, a reclining design would be nice. The wrist restraints will be held in place with pneumatic latches as described elsewhere. Sine this will be in the living area, it must also be vanilla enough for friends to not pay any attention to it. This should be interesting.

My first furniture project was a bondage sawhorse. This was mostly a failure. The main issue was a lack of understanding in the use of a sawhorse. The first top board was a 2X4. This was too skinny for laying upon comfortably. The next one was a 2X8. This time, I went too wide. More padding could have lessened the issue. I could not figure out how to prevent myself from having the ability to remove the blindfold with a restrained hand. The final killer of this project was my right knee. It cannot handle constant pressure on the knee cap for more than a few minutes due to an injury. Hopefully, you can help me to make this next project more successful.

I have 2 lines of questions. One for the design of the chair, and one for the use of it.

I plan to build the frame out of wood. It must have padded arm rests and a foot rest. Does anyone have suggestions on the design of the chair? How can I make the chair drool proof? What material should be used to cover the padding? How may the tie down points be hidden?

For use, I only need inputs on the bondage portion. Since I have never used a bondage chair before, I am depending upon you to help me make it work well. What restraint points are mandatory? Which ones are only helpful? Is there some that are a waste of time? What makes a bondage chair comfortable for long bondage session? How much movement should be allowed for the different body parts? Is an attached collar or neck strap safe?

Is there something wrong with my previous post? Is there no one here with bondage chair experience?

Either way, I shall start building the chair after Christmas.

The odd thing is that you are looking for information about chair ergonomics, the comfort of the seating, for a chair that ultimately will be used to create discomfort. The following web page, while metric, has useful information regarding chair ergonomics. It's a start.

http://www.ergonomics4schools.com/lzone/seating.htm

The classic bondage chair has a high back, a cross member for securing the legs, arm rests for restraining the arms, and depending on the level of restriction you which to apply, places for straps for the arms at the wrists, legs at the ankles, a waist belt and a chest belt. Alternately to the chest belt, you can secure the upper arms, which works well if they have arms and you do not choose to secure them behind their back.

If sexual penetration is desired, you may which to consider a removable seat, something that can be slide out from the back of the chair once the person is seat and secured in the chair by the aforementioned straps. This makes the chest strap almost a necessity.

Look on the internet for photos of real electric chairs. They were built with a purpose in mind and securing someone for one last final ride in a situation where the ultimate effort at resistance might be applied was considered in their design. They are extremely functional bondage chairs.

Good luck on your project.

Chairs is the most challenging piece of furniture to build.  That said, here is what I would recomend.  Look at what are called "mission" or "Arts & Crafts" style chairs.  In fact, if you can find one and just modify it, that is your most likely route to success, problem is most are not cheap.

The reason chairs are difficult is they require very strong jointery or they will not hold up. That said, what you need is a "Kreg jig" which allows you to use screws in a way that provides for strength which just screwing stuff together like most people do will provide ZERO strength due to end grain and other boring technical stuff.

However, if you think building a spanking bench was hard, a chair is going to be significantly more difficult.

Thank you Squidley for the information. The oddity of my post makes sense. Why would someone ask about an ergonomic bondage chairs? The answer is simple. It will be used for more than just a few minutes of bondage. It needs to be the chair that myself and others find most comfortable since it will be the only one. I guess I did not spell this out very well in the opening post.

For bondage, I expect some level of discomfort. However, furniture and equipment that are uncomfortable cannot easily be made comfortable. By starting with a comfortable design, I can easily adjust the discomfort level as needed. My bondage sawhorse was a success from a strict sadist perspective. Unfortunately, I could not be bound to it for the time frames desired because of it. This was was one reason it went away. The other reason was that it could not be hidden from vanilla visitors. A sturdy, comfortable wooden chair may be offered to guests.

Another reason to discuss comfort is prevention of injuries. Pain is the body's method to alert one to undesirable conditions. Body parts going numb may indicate pinched nerves or restricted blood flow. If the bound person is not checked frequently enough, serious harm may occur. While I would not subject others to such negligence, bondage on myself does not normally include a trusted safety observer. With that in mind, I want to avoid dangerous bondage tie down methods on the chair.

Thank you SimplyMicheal!

With a named chair design, I will have an easier time finding examples of what I am seeking. The build part should not be too difficult for me. For the sawhorse, building it was easy. Making it useful was not.

When i was going to build mine. I was concerned about the arm rests. Most armrests aren't made to handle upward or sideways forces. I was going to get some precut and threaded pipe from home depot and a few 90 degree elbows and some mounting flanges . Basically make a |_| shape out of the pipe and 90s and then put the flanges on the ends and mount the railing to the chair seat. then just put a piece of wood and padding on it with pipe mounting clamps.

But mainly time and space shelved the project
