I think that I would be a little leery about looking for childcare on Craigslist. Then again, how do people find babysitters?

Crap, does that mean I have to return the outhouse I picked up?

Who picks up an outhouse?

(More importantly....why?)

What????

One very important fact is missing from that story. What the hell did they do with the parents???

Sorry .. one look at that guy and I wouldn't let him babysit my fish! There is no way I would leave my child alone with him.

BlackPhx -> RE: Craigslist Crime (1/1/2009 5:34:39 AM)

Most people find Babysitters through friends and family referrals or through agencies that pre-screen them. However from my observations people spend more time choosing a restaurant and dinner for the evening than they spend checking out a daycare center, or the background of a babysitter. Fewer still check out the person they are having a date with and inviting into their lives and the lives of their children, and the number of people who use places like Craigslist to find roommates is scary. No background checks, no credit checks and the only references they are going to give you are good ones... Agencies are not a guarantee that the person not an abuser or a risk financially, but they are supposed to run credit checks and criminal background checks at least and many of them Bond their sitters, and make sure they have the basics down, CPR etc. and those that match roommates do run credit checks and reference checks with former landlords.

locally we have a spring clean up.   that is hunting season.  people take the junk...   I would not use craigslist.  no one locally reads it.

freecycle is better.

I have very explicit instructions when i give junk away.  also- when i pick up junk, I look for something more then an email.   ..for all we know the ad placed. was done to mask only 1 of the many who stopped by.  so the 1st dude placed the ad, cleaned the place out- then all the others got the left overs..  all because some ..convenient "prank"
