FourQ -> Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 3:48:55 AM)

1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms.
The first is full of raging fires,
the second is full of assassins with loaded guns,
and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years.

Which room is safest for him?

2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?

3. There are two plastic jugs filled with water. How could you put all of this water into a barrel, without using the jugs or any dividers, and still tell which water came from which jug?

4. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you throw it away?

5. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

6. This is an unusual paragraph. Im curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out.

Answers:

1. The third. Lions that haven't eaten in three years are dead.

2. The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry.

3. Freeze them first. Take them out of the jugs and put the ice in the barrel. You will be able to tell which water came from which jug.

4. The answer is Charcoal.

5. Sure you can: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

6. The letter "e," which is the most common letter in the English language, does not appear once in the long paragraph

Got all of them but the Ice one.

Okay I got one.

A Chain Breaks, A Bell Rings, A Man Dies. These events happen in this order but not in the same instant. With this information tell me the circumstances of the mans death.

You can ask any question as long as it can be answered Yes, No, or Irrelevant.

Have Fun.

The buoy chain breaks, the buoy rings the bell and the blind man using it as a guide falls from the cliff?

SteelofUtah -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 10:32:27 AM)

Either you knew it already or you Cheated Took me 26 questions over an hour to get that one.

OKay Next One.

There is a Cabin in the Woods, there are no foot tracks to or from the cabin, all the people inside are dead. What are the ciscumstancesof their death?

Same rules as before.

Is it because youre dead sexy???

lronitulstahp -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 10:56:28 AM)

Technically, i got all of them but the "jugs".  However, my three consecutive days were January 1st, January 2nd, and January 3rd.....still qualifies, right?

FourQ -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 10:58:23 AM)

I guess, when asked (in the summer) I responded with Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 11:02:13 AM)

Yes FourQ it was an Airplane Cabin that crashed and everyone is dead because of the Plane Crash.

Very Good.

I have so many but you are too good. The rest would be far too easy.

Maybe one more.

A Man has hung himsefl in a room 15 feet wide in all directions. The man is Hung from the center of the room. There is Nothing in the room what-so-ever NOTHING AT ALL the man however has Second Degree Burns on his feet however the flesh is not cooked. How did this man die and what were the sircumstances of his death.

I'll give you 4 guesses and then I'll just give the answer.

FourQ -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 11:34:51 AM)

Sorry, just been bathing the Um.
My guess would be he's stood on a block of ice to hang himself which resulted in the burns until such time as the ice melted (and subsequently evaporated) leaving no trace other than a stain on the floor.

Oh, did I mention that my Father brought me up with these things from the age of nine?

SteelofUtah -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 11:51:40 AM)

Yes but the answer was Dry Ice, Regular Ice would not have caused Burns. and a Block of Ice Large enough to have held him up would have held more water and not been able to evaporate before the man decomposed. Dry Ice simply turns back into Air.

But Yes that is the Answer. Remind me to either be on your team or not play should we play this game at a party later.

FourQ -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 11:53:49 AM)

Not possible mate.  Dry ice is somewhere around -74 degrees (remember that as it's the year I was born).  He couldn't possibly have stood on it long enough to hang himself which is why it would be dismissed as an option.

Sorry.

Saratov -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 11:59:42 AM)

Wouldn't it have to be a block of 'dry' ice to have caused the burns?  That would also result in no other evidence since the transition from solid to gas is so short.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 12:06:13 PM)

Actually FourQ you are fogetting that shortly after the burning started it would kill the nerve endings in the feet. Thus adding Pain and Torment to the situation. It IS possible just Painful.

FourQ -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 12:09:57 PM)

Saratov!  Was wondering how long it would take you to join in.  Always nice to see ya mate.

Hmmm, Steel.  You're right - extreme cold would kill the nerves.  Not sure I'd want to try it.  I'm trying to recall high school chemistry though [;)]
Didn't factor that in as I don't recall being taught it.  Common sense though really isn't it?

SteelofUtah -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 12:12:36 PM)

Yeah I got a Piece Stuck to my Tongue at a Halloween Party when I was 15 and I could not taste anything on that part of my tongue for like a year it was interesting when it happened cause it hurt like hell then it just felt like my Tongue was swelling and like I had a Blister on my tongue.

Parents Dry Ice is cool but not as Ice Cubes.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Lateral thinking (1/1/2009 12:18:25 PM)

You have NO IDEA.

Other things that are Bad Ideas.

Chlorine and Rubbing Alcohol in Glass Bottles
Ascetaline in a Big Black Trash Bag and a Lighter
152 Strike anywhere match heads, Two Large Bolts and a Nut
White Gas and a Camp Fire
Magnesium Striker, a knife, and a Camp Fire
Regular Petrol and a Foam Bed

All of these end VERY POORLY and I know from Experience
