Well, things are looking up here! 2008 was a tough one, with Mum getting sick, needing to get her house cleared and then dying quite suddenly, necessitating several long flights which killed My back. Also not getting the job that seemed so right for Me at the local Uni ... and Master getting pushed out of His day job too! The local music scene has been very hard to break into, and while the gigs We've done have gone well, there's not been enough to keep Us up financially. I was toying with the idea of finally getting around to doing a PhD in science education ... people have been on at Me for years to do it, but it wouldn't have been feasible in My previous stressful living situation. Master is so wonderfully laidback and supportive, I can contemplate it now. So I applied to 2 different Universities in the hopes of getting a place and a tax free scholarship from at least one. However, with not much paid work likely to be available locally, in any of Our collective endeavours, We also made the decision to put the house on the market and buy a 5th wheeler RV and take off to see Australia!

And the good news is ... I got offered a scholarship! Amazingly from the more prestigious of the 2 Unis that I tried, the one I didn't expect! However it is the one where My primary supervisor is Professor so I am sure that helped no end, although having worked successfully at the other, I thought My name might have filtered more easily into the higher echelons there. I did rate well on their reserve list which apparently would put Me quite likely to still get a place there, but I will happily accept the definite offer and let someone else get bumped up! I'm one happy lady! While the scholarship isn't fortunes, it definitely wouldn't finance Us staying in the house, it should go a long way to keeping Us on the road, especially if We camp at a lot of the free sites that are available all round the country. And the money left over from the house sale, plus the inheritance once Mum's house is sold (a few complications there but hopefully they will be sorted soon) can sit in the bank and earn some interest which will further help to keep Us going. We're planning to buy an RV with a back section in which We can cart the PA gear and instruments (and I can have a little study desk) so will also be looking for work as a "touring band". Hopefully predictions of more work in more remote areas where people will be glad of a new band passing through will come true!

Still not sold the house and We can't really buy the RV till We do, but it's early days yet. Have had an offer but way too low, despite the economic crash, this isn't a fire sale! Had another looker today who seemed interested, let's hope they come up with a reasonable offer. NOT looking forward to the sorting, packing, selling and storing one bit ... but the ultimate goal will be worth it. Master and I are such good travellers together, it will be good for both of Us.

Also finally met the boy I was talking to for most of 2008 and he was worth waiting for. No idea if it will ultimately work out for him to be 24/7 with Us, but enjoying seeing him when I can, playing with him, and training him. Where there's a will there's a way I figure!

So yay, things are looking up here. Hope they are for everyone else too! Good luck to those looking for jobs ... and those looking for partners! And for those who are blissfully in love with theirs, spending time with them now or planning marriages ... may 2009 be the best year yet for all!

I am amazed in many respects that I survived 2008, which was one of the best and worst years of my life.  2009 is starting much better--quite honestly, though, it would be hard for it to start much worse.

This year I once again have a good deal of work pressure, but I am less worried about my family members and Aidan livens up the household, being a generally high-spirited boykin.  Some very important parts of my immediate future are still up in the air, but I am cautiously optimistic.   The only downside of my life at the moment is that I have not been keeping in touch properly with my friends.

Present and also hoping for a better 2009 than 2008. I am hoping to find a sweet sissyboy maid to compliment my newly aquired pain slut.

happy new year to all!

2008 ended with me cleaning up (again) after heavy rain and melting snow flooded my apartment ...this also set my plans of moving out back a month but it did give me a chance to toss out unwanted stuff i don't need.

in other news, though spending the holidays with his family, my pet is finally collared! now we're discussing Vegas wedding plans for 22 Aug 2010. also, i turn 40 this year and am having a huge birthday bash planned on April 18th ...six absolutely cool rock bands and spanking fun.

Well... My 2009 started off pretty dismal.  Most of my plans for the first week have fallen flat.  My Westie couldn't make it for New Year's eve because he had to work and the weekend didn't happen either because his car is STILL not fixed.  (If any one else gave these excuses, I wouldn't believe them.  But I've spoken to him and he's just as bummed about it as I am.)

Then my big plans for a fun photo shoot with a sub on Sunday fell rather flat.  My husband had told me that he had the space in or storage house cleared out, but his idea of 'clean' and mine are totally different.  It was more 'cleared' than 'cleaned'... and still needed a lot of clearing.  And I can only assume that my new boy either didn't think that I was 'all that', thought he was being 'used' (Well DUH!  I told him that was going to happen and it was NOT going to be a 'play session'.) or got bored... I'm not sure which.  He made an excuse to run to the store.  I asked him to bring me a Diet Coke on his way back... He never returned.  Turned his cell phone off and has not logged back onto CM.  How lame is that?  Oh well.  His loss.  I was just about to change clothes and ask him if he would prefer to be trampled or stick his head under my Queening chair.  Good things DO come to those who wait.  But those who duck out without saying 'Good bye' don't get a 2nd chance.

I just got back from the gym.  Feels good to get back to doing my workout.  Lord knows I need it!  I've gained FOUR pounds over the holidays!  EEP!  I've really got to get all these goodies out of the house!

I wanted to add more, since it's further into the month now.

We got a lot done on the garage, insulating walls, putting up ceiling and all that fun stuff. Hubby had to go back to work today so I'm bored silly again. I want to go out and keep working on the drywall but that would require being on a ladder, sometime I promised I wouldn't do when alone... grrr

Still no snow... I've been ROBBED!!! But the good news is that there is snow in the forecast!!! Maybe it will stick around this time!!!

2008 was a pretty dismal year for me and my Mistress, lots of bad things happened, and it looks like 2009 is pretty much more of the same =/.

A rough start to 2009 here.  A good friend passed on New Years Eve at about 11:30 PM after walking off the dance floor and passing out at a party here in DFW.  The entire lifestyle community has been affected.  I've posted about it in the OT Section.

The UM's and I had a great time together for the first half of their holiday break.  Then, they returned home to their mother's the day after X-mas.  Within 3 hours the oldest called to tell me what was going on and how unhappy she was.  She turns 12 this year and her mother told me last week she's going to go deep into the gutter and initiate a nasty custody battle when my oldest asks to come to live with me.  It's a shame she can't just let things be.

I've been using the holiday break to organize the office and to try catch up on completing other projects.  Losing my friend has kind of upset my equilibrium, causing me to lose some of my focus.  I'm doing my best to get through his passing which I know simply takes time and will happen at it's own pace.

On other fronts, I'm continuing to finalize plans to open my animation business this year despite the downturn in the economy.  I'll be taking some more advanced classes beginning later this month to help hone my skills in the software I'm using as I also finish finalizing my business plan and start putting things into motion.

I'm looking forward to an exciting and eventful year for me; facing the challenges that lay ahead and overcoming the obstacles that I know will be coming my way.  Sure I have my fears about some of them, but I know that the potential for success as well as reaping the benefits that I know will follow all the hard work and the planning I've been putting into my future will be well worth any discomfort I may encounter along the way.

*quick reply*
Ah, 2008.  Was so good and so bad.

Jobwise:  Lost my position and 15 year carrer in 2008.  Was unemployed for 6 months.  Found out the "real world" outside of academics didn't have much use for me.  Have since landed a job back in my previous place of employment about 4 levels below where I left.  In this economy, it's a paycheck, so I'll stick with it.

Subs:  My pup found a vanilla woman he fell in love with and left my service.  I'll miss him terribly but am glad he's happy.  My housemate/houseby and my female switch met and fell in love, and they moved to a different part of the state because of better job opportunities.   Again, will miss them, but glad that they are happy.  The youngest kitten is still very unsure of where he wants to be...dominant, switch or sub.  He's gone his own way.

Slave:  My slave and I just formally dissovled our year-long D/s relationship this week.  I knew it was coming, but that didn't seem to lessen the hurt any.  We're still very good friends, but I'll miss the D/s part of our relationship for a long time to come.

So, guess starting 2009, I'm now officially unpartnered in the lifestyle.  Saddens, me, but hope springs eternal.

I was really glad to see the back of 2008 for various reasons much of which has been mentioned in other postings.

New Year's Day found me collared for the first time .. to Ala.. and the fulfillment of a promise made back in the spring of 2005 in Warsaw in Poland. Technically we have two homes, one here in London and the other in the north eastern corner of Poland near Bialystok. Our primary home is here in the West, in London.

However I did write technically.. because it is still unclear whether I would be considered acceptable in the small town of 15,000 people where Ala comes from, in a country and society where BDSM and WIITWD have been driven back underground so that there are no munches, no 'events', very few websites and even where letting it be known that you are *cough* kinky can lead to prosecution, physical attack and/or social ostracization. The community, just like the LGBT community, has been reduced to one of innuendo and double meanings.

This month finds me also casting for new actors, over a hundred have applied and I have spent the last couple of weeks processing applications. I decided to bring in the changes from last year and so therefore of the theatre that was only three people remain, an actor and two actresses. I am still working on 'Death' and preparing at present an application for jury selection for New York's fringe festival (FringeNYC) which if we are selected will bring us to the United States for the first time. 'Switch' - the play about BDSM is coming back and I am leading with a short comedy.

Things are developing with the sLGBT focus group in West London which hopefully later this year will become a new LGBT charity and my own charity is developing.

However prior to the United States will come my return to Poland.. as it was also predicted in 2005 when I left. Together with Ala and the theatre I'm working to put together a short tour of performances in cities such as Poznan, Warsaw, Gdansk and possibly Krakow.

2009 is my 20th anniversary of artistic work in theatre and just as much as was before I would like this year to be one of humanity, and to make my mark this year by inspiring some sort of social change through which people can find acceptance of each other to overcome differences not just of skin colour, but also differences of gender and sexual orientation. I have set myself the challenge of returning to Poland to try and open things up and once again make a stand against the Pope and the Catholic Church if only to end the years of tyranny in Polish society for those among us who are different.

But we shall see...

stella
