VampiresLair -> Hosiery and boots (1/6/2009 4:23:41 PM)

I am trying to find what I thought would be simple items, and I am having a horrifically difficult time finding them! I thought Id come here to ask.

2 simple requests
a pair of seamed hose that FIT, the only ones I have found were in small sizes and the seams looked pulled when I stuck my big legs into them. I am not a petite girl buildwise, years of karate have given me very muscular calves and thighs. But I am short. So, size B is too small around the leg and size Q is too long in it. Victoria Secret seems to be the only place I have found anything and I shudder at spending $15 for a pair of hose I may well rip the first time I have them on.

second a pair of high calf low heeled boots. Every single pair I have come across that has looked sexy has had a stilleto on it that would kill me. I have arthritic hips and I would like a pair of boots I can use aside from for photo shoots.

I am sure some of you Ladies have gotten items like these, so Id greatly appreciate any assistance I can get in finding some that will work for me. I have plans for them, but without being able to find them I cant make it happen.

Thanks in advance
DV

You may want to try secrets in lace (secretsinlace.com). Hope that helps.

Have you tried either Catherine's, or Cacique. There is also a store called torrid. Even if you are not plus sized, you may need a small size in hosiery.

I'm having the opposite problem, I'm just over 5ft. and everything seems too big and tall for me, I can't seem to find anything in a sexy corset that dosent cover what I don't want covered, or boots that go too high.

Good luck on your search. Post here what you find, I'd be interested in what you find for women with bigger calfs.

DV, on the boots, do you want them just over the calf, to the knee, over the knee?  And what is your shoe size and calf measurement in inches? You can PM me if you don't want to post it.

I went looking for boots a year ago, and may be able to help you with some of what I have bookmarked.

Yu can try Discount Dance, if you want Tights. They have them for Males, but I am not sure if they have seams or not. Luckily I am small, so I can use the Cheaper (and Seamed) Women's Tights.

Nice and Warm in mine, BalletBob

www.sockdreams.com has a lot of great socks/stockings.  everything from toes only socks to wear with clogs to the 100 inch long socks you wear all scrunched up.

and their prices are really good too....PLUS they have reviews written by customers so that you have a better idea of how things fit.

I feel your pain DV.  I just did a photo shoot with stockings.  (non seamed)  I even have a hard time finding size B half the time!  When I'm spending time Photo Shopping my pics, I'm not making myself look thinner, I'm 'filling in' that horrid 'dip' where my stockings squeeze the crap out of my thigh!

CalifChick -> RE: Hosiery and boots (1/8/2009 9:34:51 AM)

DV, the Avenue store has larger calf boots, and many of them have reasonable heels.  You can go on their website and see if there's a store near you (we have two of them in my city) so you can go in and try them on.  I did that last winter, and then went on the website where the boots were on sale (they were regular price in the store).  They only carry them in the winter, and I checked online today and it looks like their supply is dwindling, so you might want to check quick.  http://www.avenue.com
