Well....today I was thinking about all those small farms...25 acres, all lowland, families that make their living off of same, cows, horses....it's all not very far from my offices....indeed, not very far from a bar I occasion....the river is about 275 yards away from the bar...big dike to protect it and the airport with all these incredibly expensive airplanes of course...people's lives and property were at stake!

They were moving all the airplanes to a high section of the airport yesterday by 3:30, cows and horses were all being moved as well...the river was only 19 inches below the previous flood stage, with 26 hours of cresting more to come....following the county projections it was clear it was going to crest the banks by 2:30 today (which it did) and it dawned on me....the bar I go to is 7 feet below flood stage.

Naturally, I did the right thing and called them to remind them to protect the Crown Royal.

Glad to hear they're moving the animals to high ground. Someone always forgets to release theirs when we have spring floods and the poor horses die. Better to open up the fences and herd them back later on.

I heard that all the main roads are closed somewhere in Washington and it is looking bad.. but I just caught the end of the report.  It sounded like there was no way in or out.

24 hours later, news reported the river crested and overtopped the rivers edge at 7:27 p.m. yesterday, 80% of valley floor completely flooded by 10:00 p.m., houses flooded, cars damaged.....

I called and verified....Crown Royal is safe.

Thank God.

Thank goodness the Crown Royal is safe! (And you too.....)

My friends and family are from that area, and considering that I haven't heard from the one friend in Elma, I'd be willing to bet her place is under water.   She has a problem with flooding in her area. Accck, and my friend in Chehalis might be having problems too...
