LOL.....funny

Dnomyar -> RE: britain wants guns back (1/23/2009 4:29:56 AM)

There are a lot of interesting facts about pellet guns. In early europe guns that fired bullets were banned, To get around that ban powerful air guns were invented.  In Canada you can only own a bb gun that shoots 420fps.

Kaine wall-mart quit selling guns. K mart is mostly limited to shotguns.

If America did not have guns we would be British or mabey Germans or Japanese by now. Or put it another way . If America did not have guns Britan would be speaking German.

And you wouldn't be needing any guns then! Think about that! Sure you don't want to go back into the womb of Albion [8D] ?

There are certainly other variables.  High crime tends to happen where there is more poverty, for example.

But one thing is for sure - if the US implimented more effective gun control measures, the rate of school shootings would drop.  And the rate of accidental gun deaths would also drop.
[/quote]

Let's debunk a couple of things.  What do you define as effective gun control?  There are over 200000 gun control laws at the federal level here in the states now and none of those are doing anything but making it harder for law abiding citizens to exercise a protected right.  School shootings?  Schools are already "Gun Free" zones.  Not stopping the shooters very well now, is it?  Why pass another law if the ones we already have don't work?

I see people talking about how it is in a Democracy.  I wish to remind you all that the United States is NOT a Democracy.  Under the Constitution, the United States is a Representative Republic.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the Police have NO duty to protect you as a citizen.  They arrive after the problem has ended and take a report and clean up the mess.  How about the rights of that young woman on the UW-Madison campus who was brutally murdered while on the phone with police dispatchers.  Her boyfriend came home later that evening and found her body, then the police arrived.  Criminals prefer unarmed victims.

Do I think everyone should have a gun?  No, but those who choose to should be able to, as it is their right as protected by the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.  If you don't want to carry, fine but don't tell me I can't.

Labour were elected partly on the promise to ban hunting. Its called democracy. As for hand guns being banned, that was after 16 little kids were murded by some nut with a hand gun. There was no public outcry over the ban on hand guns, as most of us here agreed with it.

deomcracy may be one of the worst ideas every conceived.

How nombrilistic can people get [:D] ? This thread is purporting that the people of the U.K. are somehow clamouring for an American style right to own guns. This has been debunked half a dozen times: they don't want guns, because they have seen what they do in America.  In case you didn't know... the United Kingdom is still not the 51st state of the Union.

i believe most americans whether they want to own a gun or not, do not want the government to take away their rights, such as owning a gun, choice in religion and even freedom to get an abortion.
Life, Liberty, Freedom and the Pursuit of Happiness(so happy holding my .38 S&W Guardian) ....just sayin

Quotes like this really make me laugh. You spout liberty and freedom but th US is fed more bullshit and propoganda than any other country i can think of.
You are led to believe you have this liberty and freedom and through crap you are fed believe it, go figure.
At least us Brits can see we are going towards being an extreme controlled country.

He did and I like many of his sayings but, he did have contempt for the common man as witnessed by the above quote.
And if the people of England (Great Britain or whatever we're calling it these days)
want guns then they should have them!
What if they made a law banning certain types of cars?

Why yes DomKen I have met the "common man", they're all around here!
Engineers, Steelworkers, Teachers, Retired Military, (Me) Police and Correction Officers, Business owners, Computer Techs, Retired Arbitrage Bankers, a lady who rides horses in Dolly Parton's wild west show, and that's just in these condos that I live in!
I read that "Sir Winston" would actually tell his "servants" that he was,..."a Great Man."
Seems he had a bit of an ego problem.

One egotist vs a nation.
USA 'we are a great nation'.

Not what i would call the common man.
How's about those people struggling to make ends meet?

Yes them too especially.
Unfortunately we don't have a lot of manufacturing in the country like we used to, they've been moved to third world countries so the owners can take the skim off of lower wages.
"The common man" would probably include 98% of people.
You could earn $300k and still be considered a "common man.

Yikes! Yahoo is reporting that three people have been stabbed to death in a Belgium daycare center!
Time to hand in your sharp knives people!
No more steak for you, hamburger only!

You miss a huge point when you say things like this.
Steak knives are made to cut steak with. Yes you can kill someone with one but you can kill someone with pretty much anything.
Guns on the other hand are made to kill.

Right I dunno if this is a joke or not but in case not England is a country Great Britain is made up of 4 countries England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We arent calling it two differant things they ARE two differant things.

And sorry no, people want a great many things, some people want to beat up their wives, some people want to own weapons of mass destruction (see what I did there) not all things that people want are things that they should have
