My Girlfriend and I are new to this though we been talking about it for awile and i ve been reading and so has she on here. We have a question about tying up private areas. I all for it but Her and I dont know if theres like at ime rule or something before permament damage is done due to lack of blood supply to the tied up areas. I heard your supposed to untie and let the blood flow back but havent gotten a real time. Please help and thank all that do

Any body part can be damaged by cutting off the blood supply for too long a time.  If a part turns purple or is very pale and cold to the touch, then it has been too long.

That said, with proper bondage techniques you can wrap your girlfriend up in a pretty little package for hours without doing her any harm.  Look at some of the BDSM sites for proper rope technique, especially those dedicatd to shibari.  The biggest thing to avoid is going AROUND a body part with a very tight loop, as that impairs the blood flow.  You also need to watch out for nerve bundles in certain parts of the body.  The illustrated sites will show you how it is done, but there is no substitute for practice.  If you have an active BDSM community where you live, see if you can't find an experienced top that will personally show you the ropes.

I agree with verynastydom. also if you are new to tying try tying lightly. You dont have to make every tie as tight as you can pull to get the experence. just tying someone to the point they cant get out of it is fun and dosent have to be tight or restrict blood flow. one way of learning some great ties and knots is watching some videos on it. you can find some great ones on showing off some impressive wraps.

have fun

The reason there isn't "a time" is that it's different for everyone.  It depends on how good your circulation is, how tight the ropes are, etc. etc. etc.  You can do immediate damage if the ropes are too tight.  It's just something you have to feel out.  Keep communication open during play, and check regularly.

Though I have to disagree on that one...it might work with your girlfriend but there are girls out there where it doesnt work...I for example have fibromyalgia and even knowing I have that since at least 16 years I haven't had a name on my condition until last year. Now I got tied up like a parcel 4 years ago, not knowing that "little pressure causes pain"(as in that time my condition wasn't as bad as it is now and I hadn't realised that little pressure does lead to pain for me and therefore 50+ little pressure points via robe material on my body causes immense pain). Therefore because of that condition it was hell pur for me...which is why unfortunately heavy bondage is my hard limit as it simply isnt possible for me to do with that condition...so just bear in mind, that even when it works with many people...there are some out there which aren't able to be tied up like a little package (even when personally I adore bondage and am slightly jealous at times about people who are able to do it).

Check into courses offered through your local bdsm organization and use items made for such things (Like cuffs rather than neckties).  Nerve damage is a very real potential in addition to the others mentioned and can take a longtime to heal, if it heals at all.

2 things: surgical tourniquets can be in place for a couple of hours, and people sometimes have complications following the use of a surgical tourniquet. 2 hours would probably be a good limit for leaving somebody tied up if it was tight, though personally I like being tied up for longer. ;)

I read the OP's  post as being Her tying him up - and his dangly boy bits.   (note the capitalization of "Girlfriend")

Sure you can tie the penis and testicles up. I personally wouldn't leave them tied for more than 10 to 15 minutes before releasing the binding. I imagine if you posted this in "Ask a Mistress" you would get a lot more responses from people who have actually done bandage of the testicles and penis.
Have fun and cudos on asking questions before actually doing something that might make your boyly bits fall off.

Look for information  on Shibari.  That is the term for your rope bondage.

There are a few really great artists in this country.  I highly recommend a demo if you can find one.

Blood flow constriction to the extremities is hardly an issue. Limbs can do without blood for at least an hour or longer, and it is really difficult to cut off all circulation. What is dangerous, is nerve compression, which can also be caused by tying too tight in the wrong places. Nerve damage can occur fast, without warning and it can be permanent.

Take a look at this www.esinem.com/main-safety, especially the nerve damage link.
