SirKenin -> Google Pack available for download (1/9/2006 5:47:50 PM)

Here is something else that may be of interest to you that I got in My email. Link is at the bottom to read the rest of the article. Basically it is a pack of tools for you to use on your computer, all collected into one nice little bundle. Check it out.

Google has released the beta version of a software bundle that includes many of the more popular alternatives to Microsoft applications.
The Google Pack was announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) last week, and it features a collection of software from Google and other vendors, including Adobe, Mozilla, Norton and Real. Included in the Google Pack are Adobe Reader 7, Ad-Aware SE Personal, GalleryPlayer HD Images, Google Desktop, Google Earth, Google Pack Screensaver, Google Talk, Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox with Google Toolbar, Norton AntiVirus 2005 Special Edition, Picasa, RealPlayer and Trillian. It also includes the Google Updater tool, which downloads, installs and maintains all of the software in the Google Pack.

Almost all of the software included in the Google Pack is available for free download on various sites. The attraction of the Google Pack is that it includes all of the software and tools in one downloadable package, said Charles King, principal analyst at Pund-IT.

"You can grab it a piece at a time. In a way it sort of aggregates existing tools, certainly," King said.

However, there's more going on with the Google Pack than simply making a lot of software available in a one-stop-shop method, he said. Microsoft will be releasing Windows Vista later this year, and it will be one of the most thoroughly integrated Microsoft software packages to come down the pipe, King said. It will incorporate integrated Microsoft security solutions, pop-up blocking solutions, anti-spyware solutions and more...

Mac people are special! And hurray! MacWorld in San Francisco is starting tomorrow!
(Too many exclaimation points? You know how converts are. lol)

Besides, having a Mac already gives you alternatives to Microsoft applications. (I know, I know, of a sort. lol) I use the Mozilla Firefox browser on my school PC as well. [:)]

i happen to be a lady, SIR, and YOU are no gentleman (i read an earlier posting re: this).

i have 3 macs. and the most prime example of both a gentleman and a dominant that i know uses macs exclusively. another theory bites the dust, eh?

oh, and keep downloading those antivirus programs.

Holy... It was just a joke... someone a little touchy?

Actually, not even mentioning that all your REAL men use Macs, the entire publishing industry uses Macs. Walk into any newspaper office and look what is sitting there. Dozens of men and women using Macs.

By the way... The reason you do not see virii for Macs is very simple. Mac OSx commands approximately five percent of the market share. Microsoft Windows commands 93.8%. Who is the better target for a hacker? Hackers look to implement mass destruction. Obviously Windows is the better choice for them (unfortunately).

so was mine; don't you watch good movies (i took that line right out of an old classic, basically).

i am actually not a mac fan, but it's what i have. i do love that no viruses part : ) though.

SirKenin -> RE: Google Pack available for download (1/10/2006 12:18:14 PM)

Heh. No, I am not a movie buff. I am a computer buff (but I am pretty sure that was blatantly obvious. lol)

I do not have any virii either. As a Panda dealer they gave Me Panda BusinesSecure for My network. It catches anything and everything. I sell it to everyone. hehe

perhaps someday you might want to watch o'selznik's classic, "gone with the wind" and pay attention to the scene at the wilkes' bbq when katie sneaks down to the parlour to speak with ashley, then finds rhett has been on the davenport.

You know I keep mentioning this to Mac lovers but I guess the Kool-Aid makes them feel invincible. Sadly , their time is coming.
