when i have this done i use savlon immediately after then spend the next few days exfoliating with one of those sponges with a scrubby bit and smother with aqueous cream a couple of times a day (dead cheap for a huge tub and great for all over body moisturising too) which i use for my eczema and safe for facial use the swelling and redness is usually gone within 3 days and the face feels great

hope it helps xx

grrr this is driving me nuts I have lil tiny pimples all over my jaw line on both sides lon long after waxing I pro.lly have to exfoliate

What you describe.. not just this post.. but your previous descriptions.. sounds like some kind of allergic reaction to the waxing. It may not be, it could just be a horrible wax job.. but with the zits, red skin, and flaking.. Sounds like an allergic reaction. Are you sensitive to any soaps/lotions?

You could try a benadryl cream next time immediately afterward and see if it helps. Just an idea.

Waxing rips your hairs right out of you. Painful. i have my face waxed, too. It burns in some of the sensitive areas (high cheeks) for a couple days. i use Calendula lotion, a homeopathic lotion found at my local health food store. It is mild, soothing and unscented. Exfoliating on tender skin causes more problems for me so i avoid it for about a week.

Oh the things we go through....lol

I've decided never to get the cheeks or other face parts done only the eyebrows and lips. my skin took forever to get back to normal and the jawline is still a lil bump, I've used noxema on it and I've used dove soap an they're better.

SimpleV I have really sensitive skin so I wouldn't be supprised if it was a bad reaction.

I wax my lower face every 6 weeks as I don't like the blonde fuzz - I think it looks matronly. I use the kind of wax strip that comes pre-coated and you separate the layers. They don't rip skin, and they leave little residue.

USE BABY OIL or almond oil TO GET THE RESIDUE OFF - it won't come off with soap and water - vitamin e oil not bad either.

I would use a cream cleanser, not soap. Make sure you clean your face before waxing and let it dry well. And use the oil to remove residue and gently cleanse and moisturize again. Don't touch it or let telephone touch it. Change your pillowcase so that it's clean.

I am not a fan of the salon for doing it. They often double-dip other peoples skin cells back into the wax pot, and the honey wax is way stickier than it needs to be to get the job done. I was a hairdresser for 14 yrs and did waxing before the blue or green wax came out - the kind that requires no linen strip. I prefer that kind. But it is hard to find a salon that uses it, and again, the double dipping is unsanitary.

the blue waxes also pull less on your skin, which destroys less collagen when you wax. i'm not sure how much those strips pull, but more pull on the skin=more collagen destruction=more aging of the skin

another tip, be sure to pat your face dry rather than rub it

waxing is a traumatic and irritating thing to the skin of your face. it is perfecty natural for your skin to get red, have reduced sensation, perhaps seep a little, and to break out. do not use any harsh or irritating cleansers. you shouldn't use regular soap on your face afterward, either, as it dries out the skin and can often leave a residue that further inflames the skin. the directions that classy gave are excellent. the person who did your waxing should have put a moisturizing cream on your face immediately afterward, and definitely should not have waxed areas that you did not want waxed. i would suggest finding a different establishment for your needs. one other thing i might suggest is to make sure that your hair is pinned back before and after your waxing, to prevent the oils from it brushing onto your skin, and to prevent it from irritating your skin while it recovers.

good luck on your future waxing endeavors!

Thank you:) I do pin my hair back I just can't stand to have it all around me when my skins tender. So you say collogen damage to skin makes it look older? Which maybe why it looks so horrible even after a while after waxing

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Washing face after waxing. (3/3/2006 12:36:04 AM)

I think some of the vessels were damages or something cause now I can see lil spider vains on one spot that were not there before.

Collagen is what gives your skin its elasticity. Less elasticity=more lines and wrinkles.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. :( Never ever go to that person again!
