Hello All!
I used to have my navel pierced, but unfortunately one day the ring fell out, and I did not discover it until many hours later. Even though I had it pierced for about a year and a half, it healed up rather quickly. It had been bothering me, so I decided to just let it stay closed. Now I am interested in getting it pierced again, but I was wondering if I will be able to do so. There is a small scar from the previous piercing, and I'm worried there is scar tissue inside as well. Has anyone ever had a similar experience? Am I able to get it re-pierced? And if so, is it more painful or does it take even longer to heal?

You can get it repierced - and it would probably be more painful because the scar tissue is denser than normal tissue.

I've had my navel repierced. I'll probably get it done a third time during a stupid, weak, drunken moment. Scar tissue wasn't an issue with the first repiercing. It hurt like a mother the first time and it hurt like a mother the second. I don't remember one hurting more than the other.

A really good piercer (not a mall cheap-jewellery store piercer) can answer that question better than we can.

All tissue is healed with fibrotic scar, and well consolidated scar is much tougher than regular skin. As each person heals differently, there is no way to know what your scar looks like. However, you can almost certainly get it redone.

Meh, I've had my ears repieced several several times, a couple of surface piercings redone, and my tongues been pierced in various places maybe 8 times now, it's not that big of a deal, but a good piercer is recommended just to get it straight the second time around.

I have been a piercer for many years both professionally and play piercer. Yes, you can have your navel pierced again providing there is no keloid scarring, that hard ball like piece of scar tissue where the piercing used to be. People of color and olive skinned individuals have the highest incidence of this. No one knows why.
A piercing can be made through the keloid/scar and someone else here said it would be more painful and it can be, and can also create MORE scar tissue and just not heal right. It can often cause the inserted needle to be off its mark (sometimes this tissue can be as hard as a marble), making the piercing crooked. A good piercer, an experienced piercer who can examine and feel the previous piercing for problems is your best bet. If you are really worried you can also visit a dermatologist but very few are piercing friendly.
Find a tattoo shop and ask questions to the piercer. We can't do anything here online.

Like MistreeAinCT said, it can be more difficult to pierce through scar tissue. Scar tissue can be reduced by massaging the area daily with Jojoba or Emu oil. Wait at LEAST 6 months after the hole closes to re-pierce. However, if it keloided or if you had hypertrophic scarring (keloid would look bumpy and cauliflower like, hypertrophic would look more like a large pimple or hard blister), it could do that again, and I would advise against re-piercing.
A good piercer should be able to pierce behind the scar tissue.
