I've never called 911.

The same.  We rarely are in the same place at the same time....I'm pretty sure that we are the same person.  I love pussy, you love pu....

The systems are not all fool proof...and no not the same in all areas, as where I am at 911 calls from cell phones do not go to Hwy patrol, but to police department/county sherrifs departments depending on the location of the call at the time. Can they have issues? yes, can and are they being worked out, one would like to think so yes, as most agencies do tend to try to keep their systems updated as much as possible. The more populated area's and larger agencies yes of course will have several dispatchers on duty at all times......I was in law enforcement for many years.....true yes the systems are being abused. We had a lady call 911 several times every night, only to ask "what time is it", turns out she was elderly, had no one, and simply wanted someone to talk to now and then, yes of course time and visits to her home to check on her now and then were needed to curb the problem. But it does happen

one of the few coherent things FlavaFlav has ever said...
oh for the days of my youth when he was cool...
but seriously, i am thankful for the times they did show up. one of my best friends slipped into a coma because there was no ambulance available where he crashed. he went to the emergency room in the car of a paramedic and never woke up.
sad.

I've been the reason for two 911 calls.  Both times it worked perfectly.

I'm sorry to hear about your father, Nueva. I can't imagine the hell you went thru that night, but thankfully your dad was around a little longer because of YOUR efforts, definitely not the dispatcher.  I make it a point to tell my crew, don't wear blinders on a call. You don't have just 1 patient, you have to make sure their family is taken care of also and if that means just being a sounding board, then that's what you do. You do everything in your power to make it easier for them as well as the patient.

You are a blessing to families in duress.

wow, kind of scary to hear how many people have had problems with 911. Thank god I've never had to call 911, and god willing I never will. I use a cell phone that uses an area code from a county where I used to live, I now live in a different area code. Always wondered how that would work...
