Then again, I may just be getting cynical here on collarme <sigh>

No LadyMorgynn, bottom line, the "I want" sub is not a true sub.

As to the difference between the two. I think it is merely the level of a relationship. IMO a slave is much deeper. To put it into vanilla context. The Dom and the submissive are dating. The Mistress/Master and slave are married.

Also the slave "should" be at a deeper level than the average sub and thus a better servant. But the "attitude" of each should be identical.

Perfect.

Keeps it simple enough for the masses. Although it should be said that there are submissives (though few and far between, seemingly) who are sincere and pure in a desire to serve; they are treasures.

(Of course, the same could be said of "slaves".)

Let me throw some more labels out...I identify here as a slave...because there is no category for masochist or bottom.

I've always viewed "bottom" as the weaker of the submission terms, but masochist? Yes, that's quite specific.

And you bring up a valid point; CM should expand the categories a little more.

A lot of men do that, and I cannot tell you how annoying it is for a slave to talk to me, telling me exactly how badly I will treat him, hurt him, degrade him. To me, and from my reading, a slave is someone who gives up his rights/choices (or transfers his authority as someone says) to the dominant to do with as he/she wishes, not anything necessarily connected to extreme/edgy play. I have struggled with the very same question for a while. Thanks to you, "thetammyjo" for your insightfull interpretation. Submissive I am. I'm definately not 24/7 my life doesn't allow for a second carreer.

For those who perceive submissives as "I want ..." Are you pro dommes? If so then that would seem to explain your interpretations.

LadyMorgynn -> RE: Please Tell Me (1/13/2006 10:47:20 PM)

No, I'm not!!!! But that kind of comment accounts for about 75% of all emails I get, and from men who have quite obviously NOT read my profile.... as well as a decade of knowing submissive males as personal friends, who never seem to tire of trying to convince me to "play" with them.... even when I thought I was submissive they were always trying to prod or manipulate me into dominating them. My "perception" therefore is based on my personal experience.

Well, what is the point of CM?
To connect people who do Ds or to connect people who do everything in BDSM?

If its just for Ds then "sub/slave" and "master/mistress/dominant" seem fine to me.
If its for all variations of BDSM then they would do everyone a service by expanding definitions.

I see bottom as the person who wants things done to them (that "do me" idea that was proposed for submissive earlier". Or being the person "on the bottom" when you have a sexual encounter. Or sort of like the catcher in baseball while the top is the pitcher.

The differences between being a submissive vs. a slave?

i do think that i have a basic understanding of the differences, but ask for clarification and you're wise and abundent counsel on this.

Thank you kind Dommes

michael

The definition of sub or slave and the differences between the two, are whatever the Mistress and sub/slave decide BEFORE entering into a M/s relationship.

The very best words of advice to any two (or three or four or more) people about to enter into a relationship are this...be honest about what you want, what you are willing to do and what you are not willing to do and negotiate, negotiate, negotiate.
