The US national debt is around 11 trillion dollars. So, with the 14Gyr estimate of the life of the Universe:

11,000,000,000,000 / 14,000,000,000 = $785/year. About $2.15 per day. Roughly $0.90 per hour. Or 1.5 cents per minute since the Universe began.

Surprised no one else thought to calculate that one!

Some expected responses (or variants):
Thanks a lot, George W Bush.
What? It is Congress that proposes the spending..they are at fault!
But Bush submitted the budgets and never vetoed one!
It was because of the {oil companies, Skull and Crossbones, Illuminati, etc.}

So you're saying that if each of the 6 billion odd people in the world would just contribute 1.5 cents an hour, we could pay down the debt in under fourteen years? Come on people!

No accurate debt figures can omit the unfunded mandates - like Social Security and Medicare (or is it Medicaid). If memory serves those 2 take us over 60 trillion.
