I had been watching the Feb 6 post by Greedytop and Pirate go round and round on the upper bar for a few days now, and went to find out if they were talking about ~~ not what I thought.  I am most happy for them and all those who shared in the occasion!!
Feb 6, 2009 was the National Go Red Day.

I am one of them, but there are more women who face some sort of cardiac disease. This does not mean they have had a myocardial infarction (heart attack) but that they have a diseased heart.

National Wear Red Day
-February 6, 2009-is a day when Americans nationwide will wear red to show their support for women's heart disease awareness.
The Heart Truth
-a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease-created and introduced the Red Dress as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness to deliver an urgent wakeup call to American women.

Sometimes we get caught up in the, what I call minor issues, of health.
Oct '06 while practicing for our dragonboat competiton, I fainted.
My B/P skyrocketed, my heart was not functioning properly to perfuse the organs needed to perform my skill. 2 weeks later I was officially classified as one of those women who will always have heart disease and no operation or pill will take it away. GO RED !!

I also GO PINK !!

Good post.... heart disease is the leading cause of death in women... I have supraventricular tachycardia which is a disturbence in the hearts electrical system..can be fatal ,, drugs or surgery needed to control

but I don't go pink and unfortunately there is not ribbon color  to cover cancer as a whole, I have had ovarian and now have lung cancer..  I know too many people that have had or died or various cancers....there are more cancers than breast cancer.. and breast cancer now has good survival rates compared to many others, research dollars directed to breast cancer do not help with cures for other cancers..some cancers the survival rates have basically gone unchanged in the last 30 or more years because of lack of  money for research

the number 1 cause of cancer death in woman is lung cancer which only has a 16% overall 5 year survival rate it's rate has pretty much went unchanged..it kills more women then breast cancer, ovarian and uterine cancers combined... a woman that quit smoking 10 or 15  years ago can still be at high risk of getting lung cancer  and the rates of those getting is increasing  ..it is better to donate to the cancer society as unspecified to which  so they can direct the funding to the research where it is needed most..rather than flood one form of cancer with research  and awareness/educations dollars while another form is left with no money for research.. if more money was available for lung cancer research just maybe those that have mestasis to the lung tissue as a secondary  would  have hope instead of being considered terminal
