The Calibirthday 2009 is in its preliminary planning stages as we speak.  The actual date of the bday is July 26, which falls on a Sunday this year.  Due to some other issues, I am thinking a week or two earlier would be best, perhaps the week after the 4th of July week.

And the location is firmly set as "somewhere in Florida", LOL.

What will be the closest airport?  I want to start looking for airfares, arranging for a car with GPS, etc.

CJ and I need to talk about location.  Last year it was Ft. Myers (which has an airport), and it was actually cheaper to fly into there than anywhere else (Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale).  I will be using frequent flier miles for it this year, I think.

And Potty?  My birthday has been the same for 44 years honey.  You knew about the Calibirthday 2008; I think you deliberately planned vacay for July so you had an excuse NOT to come, so there!  [sm=tongue.gif][sm=tongue.gif]

Well, I am planning to rent a house on either Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel or Captiva. The closest and cheapest fare is Fort Myers as Cali said. It will prolly be in July, but August might work too. I'd like to accomodate as many peeps as would like to com.

Having said all that,  those who would like to attend may want do some preliminary searches regarding travel and such, but, perhaps we should wait a while so that those who went to The Wedding can take the time to fully savor and enjoy that experience before rushing off to make new plans.

I've been to Sanibel.  It's gorgeous there!  Anywhere you choose will be beautiful, I'm sure.

My vote is Ft. Myers Beach....

Sanibel is nice.. but it does not have the Lani Kai to party at. ( Plus the bloody $6 toll over the bridge is just damn annoying if you wanna go off island.) ~ Even Ron White bitched about it.

I vote for Fort Myers/Bonita Beach too. As Gwyn pointed out, it is easy access to more than "just" the beach, including Sanibel for a day trip , if ya want. Also, we could get a larger house for the $$.

Let me look at dates when I can breathe (these peeps here actually want me to work)... kids go back to school early here, in August, and it's easier for me to be away when my kids are not in school (easier on the babysitters).

I don't care where it is as long as it's Not in Oklahoma lol - July, August... both are good for vacation - Ft Myers, Sanibel, WheretheheckeverinFlorida... sun, sand, water, good peeps...... Yep..... I'm There!  (Hell, I'll even volunteer to pitch in on funding for a larger house for this shindig to get the duck outta fodge... )
