what can be done when you know with an absolute certainty that someone has an std and is telling others on the site that he or she is disease free?

I would call them out, but the internet is such that it makes it easy to just delete an account and make a new one.

I do I respect what you are trying to accomplish, but it is very hard to police situations like this.

I wouldn't do a damned thing.  Anyone who claims they are disease free could be full of it.  It's up to their potential partners to take the proper precautions--ie--ask to see recent blood work, or use a condom unless and until they're sure that this stranger is someone they can trust on their word.   I certainly wouldn't take the word of a virtual stranger from their profile and say "ooh yeah, he's disease free. Perfect!  I'm getting laid this weekend".

once I had a friends who's wife was just coming out...she was playing with a dommie...one that had stds...Now she risked her ex, and her kids lives over it..so I had to tell him..yea it hurt him..and I had quite a few around my area saying I should have minded my own business. I lived with it.....I decide I could not risk her crap cause of the kids..and the hell with what over so called lifestyles  thought about it..And I live with it quite well....Huntertn

It depends on the STI.

Is it terminal?

I know that, for someone who is HIV positive and telling their partners that they aren't, they can be criminally prosecuted. Good luck proving it to the police without a copy of their medical records, though.

In the end, I'd say it's really none of my business, but I would report it (by calling first a police non-emergency number and asking if it's a legal matter, and then by calling the health control office (or whatever it's called) and reporting it there, too) somewhere if it were a terminal type illness

I have to agree here. Would you take someones word that they were STD free?
If a person sleeps with him believing that then it probably means she/he has slept with others without precautions who in turn have slept with others and so it goes on without getting properly checked out. The chances are they have an STD too.

A friend of mine encountered something similar on a different site recently.  A person with whom he had played knew the other person's status (hiv, in this instance) was not accurately stated and contacted my friend, warning him to be careful. 
My friend was very grateful for the information. 
I wouldn't shout it from the rooftops but if you specifically and personally knew someone who that person was putting at risk, I wouldn't think it out of line to say something.  I would say something.

Well, if this isnt a big ole can o worms, i just dont know what is....

If you want to remain drama free, which i can safely assume that you dont, based on your post....you can do nothing about this situation aside from not being sexually active with that person. Any attempt on your part to "warn" anyone about said person would be certain to embroil you in more drama than you would ever want to see.

If you are truly looking to protect anyone near and dear to you...remind them that safer sex is the way to go and that they cant believe everything they read ...unless Domiguy is the author...then its all gospel.

on the other hand... would you take someone else's word that a particular person has an STD or other medical condition?

Personally, I'd want a clean (or not so clean) bill of health on a potential partner first hand, and not by word of mouth.
