Hi there! This is a question to all.

I have been playing around with the BDSM lifestyle for quite sometime and I am hooked.

I do have some toys, whips, canes, clamps, ropes, etc to play around with my subs.

But I have always desired to have my very own private Dungeon. Anyone out there knows how one can go about to create one? To actually change a portion of your house to become a dungeon.

What would be the tools and equipment recommended? How much would it cost?

I know that in certain countries the basement is an ideal spot but in Singapore we don't have basements, so what would be an alternative method of running your own private dungeon? Which part of the house?

If anyone can give me some info, I would really appreciate it. Many thanks! ;)

if your home is anything like mine was in s. korea, space is a factor. think of having two modes for any room in your home; living mode and dungeon mode. what may appear to be a wardrode could be customized to your extact tools inside. coffee tables have many uses... well secured towel rods are really meant to hold the weight of a person + x amount of pull...

Fae has made a good point.
You can turn any room into a dungeon but thats all its ever going to be. We used two rooms in our house to create a medical room and a dungeon but we always ended up playing in the bedroom or other rooms in the house and so the rooms we made fit for this purpose just didn't get utilized enough.
We are now taking those rooms back but the dungeon, medical furniture we have is being modified so that it is scattered around but not at all obvious.

I have built about 15 dungeons in my 13+ years in the lifestyle.  Some have been the traditional, flat black paint applied with a sponge over rust colored paint, some non-traditional indoor room conversions, and others have been elegant outdoor dungeons in Los Angeles.

Personally, I believe that the dungeon is what you want it to be.  It should be an extension of you. If you are into strict protocol, a very clean house, and you like your ropes perfectly coiled, then you should design and build a dungeon which allows for neat storage and looks clean and organized.

I have helped build a dungeon on a brick patio outside.  It was absolutely beautiful...  It had a waterfall which flowed back int the pool, and hidden in the waterfall were stainless steel eye hooks, so that you could bind your slave and whack away as the water showered her.  Then there was a handcarved bench, which had rope cleats hidden on the underside, so that you could tie down your slave and do as you please.  It also had a partial canopy which covered half of it, and this canopy had supports and crossbraces strong enough to suspend someone.

If cost is a huge issue, then build yourself a steel or wooden pyramid, with a few cross braces, and be creative as you bind someone.  Sometimes it is not as much about the equipment and dungeon, as it is about your methods, creativity, and desire to have fun.

I hope this helps...

Without any idea of Singaporean home layout, I'll drop my own experience of creating a dungeon into the mix. Mine is the garage that was largely used for storing stuff. The first thing I had to do was shut and insulate an old single-layer metal garage door, in a climate that is more often chilly than not. I used the foam out of old couch cushions with construction adhesive to cover the inside of the door, filled all the cracks inside and out with rigid foam insulation sprayed out of can (the water-soluble sort so it would not dissolve any of the older foam), then used a few sheets of exterior plywood to cover the door. Inside, I draped several yards of purple corduroy across the door. Because I'm likely to sell the house in couple of years, I'm keeping this a temporary, not a permanent change; a few hammer strokes and scrapers will open the door again.

Once done, I hung gauze drapes along an unpainted wall, put up mirror mylar over the opposite wall, and a used black area rug on the floor. Reupholstered a home-built sturdy massage table in black vinyl, installed huge eyebolts every few feet along the mylar wall top and bottom, set an old steamer trunk out as a spanking bench and moved a few clip-on lights to the track for the garage door, along with a portable heater to thaw the garage before use. Voilá!

Hi everyone, thanks for all the info and tips.

I have to admit some of you actually gave me a different perspective on actually owning a dungeon.

It never crossed my mind about the idea of actually converting every part of the house into a dungeon through subtle means.

Thanks also for the detail explanation about going about creating an actually dungeon whether indoors or outdoors.

I don't suppose anyone could forward me some pictures of those places? Just so I could get a better idea. After all, a picture speaks a thousand words.

Once again, my thanks to you all.

Cheers! :D

On the subject of subtly creating a dungeon, I imagine if you were into working out and had a lifting bench in your home, it might double up nicely as somewhere to bind your slave to.  Unfortunately, since moving I no longer have the space for the bench I borrowed off my bro (not that he would appreciate the alternative use I was imaging for it).

Also, this new place I moved into, when I was shown around initially, I noticed hat the tenants had put up a pull up bar across the bedroom door frame.  You could do similar as a means of combining chin ups with suspending your slave.  I unfortunately cannot do this because of my height!
