Hey y'all,

So for one of my classes we're doing an in-depth look at a lot of Debussy's works, and more specifically his techniques and such.

He's famous for such piano works as Clair de Lune, and Sarabande... what are some of your favorite (or most detested) pieces by Debussy?

Well, La Mer is quite well known.  (As you so cleverly titled this thread!)

When I was a senior in high school, I played a piece called "Syrinx", for unaccompanied flute.  I got a "superior" rating!

The "Children's Corner" and "Printemps"  are some of my favorites, as well as the ones already listed.  But "La Mer" is my very favorite of all.  Then there is "Afternoon of the Fawn".  i like it, too.

I love all of his music but especially La Fille Aux Cheveux De Lin, Clair de Lune and Prelude a L'Apres midi d'un faune and yes, his Nocturnes.

I'm really happy about this class because I'll get to experience more Debussy; his Clair de Lune is my absolute favorite, but I enjoy his other, more 'darker' pieces too, like the Noctunes, which are absolutely beautiful. His dances are a bit more difficult for me to get into.
