Pranic vampirism is "actual" vampirism.  Or did you miss the posts where feeding is discussed?

*chuckles* and here we see the interplay of the Sang and Psi...

Yes.. BOTH are "real" vampirism. Both use energy. Both take energy from a donor.

Neither are above the other in Vampiness.

I know most Sang's see theirs as "real" or more "real" but both are valid forms of it.

I wouldn't say "most" sangs see their form of vampirism as more real.  I'm active in the international community and I'd say most vampires, whether sang, psi, or hybrid acknowledge the rest as equally entitled to use the term "vampire."  The Great Sang/Psi debate ended years ago.  It's only the little, isolated pockets of vamps who have been living under rocks for the last decade who haven't heard yet.

I also wouldn't say that sang vamps take energy.  For most of the ones I know, the blood doesn't have to be fresh or even human although they prefer it that way.  One of my friends uses beef blood and stores hers for up to three months in the freezer by adding glucose to keep it from separating.  She gets the same benefit from it as she does from a human donor.  I think a few others do the same thing, but I'm not 100% sure of it, so don't quote me.  There's something else going on with how sangs relate to blood.  We just don't know what yet.

ewwww.. just ewwww....

The whole idea of non human blood just squicks me I guess.

It has been a while since I was very active in the community. But at the time a lot were of the mind this is more then that.. ect.

I know quite a few were trying to suppliment their diet with animal blood in the case that they could not find a donor, but it wasnt a prefferance for any I knew at the time.

I guess it also depends on the pocket of society that one is in.

A lot were totally against using teeth. ~ and a "standard" came out of that.

I had also run into some groups were teeth were the standard. *shrugs*

The idea of non human blood still squicks me though... that is just a personal thing.

If blood did anything at all for me (tastes great, less filling), I don't think I'd want to use animal blood either.  It's so...impersonal.  But it's more convenient than human blood from what I understand.  Lady CG, author of Practical Vampyrism for the Modernn Vampyre, uses animal blood exclusively.  She doesn't want the hassle of finding a clean, sane donor.  I don't blame her.

The energy-in-blood metaphor was something psi vamps came up with in an attempt to understand sang vampirism and to relate psi vampirism to sangs in a way that made sense.  It snowballed into "sangs are less evolved because they use blood to get energy" but that wasn't accurate.  It's still a sore spot with quite a few sangs.  The "no teeth" guideline is based on the knowledge of how much bacteria is harbored in the human mouth and that human teeth aren't designed to puncture cleanly.  It's a safety thing.  I like biting but I wouldn't want to bite hard enough to draw blood.  A human bite can take weeks to heal and can leave nasty scars.  I can't understand why anyone is his/her right mind would want to do that much damage to a donor but milage may vary.

I have the scars to attest, so when it comes to Sang: +.

Psi, I have no experience with, so I guess I'd be willing to try - and I'm trying to work a joke about pillow biting in here somewhere, but I keep running up against the obscurity issue.

Nope, i try to only say the word "witch" as little as needed. so with Sylvere's help, i started saying "wombat" to replace the w-word.
Some say "witch" as some might say pagan. But not all pagans are witches, and i don't call someone a witch after they browse the New Age section.
Pagans, shamans, and witches are often energy workers. Well, by my definition a witch is an energy worker...
Often i notice many vamps in their numbers, but rarely donors.

domiguy, you are such a card. what card says he? why the Queen of hearts of course. "off with his head!" which is not the first time that statement was used. can you tell me where it was originally used? err... lol...

It dopes take a hell of a lot more effort.. but boy is it worth it. Bleh animal blood. I like the link.. and the energy play from my donors. I just cant get that or well anything worthwhile from half congealed animal blood. ( still squicked)
I know the clean donor is fairly easy to find.. it is the clean and *sane* one that is a bit trickier.

I remember that whole "Less evolved" debate. LOL

And yes... the human mouth is a nasty nasty place.. most do not have naturally sharp enough teeth not to do tissue damage. Most people are not medically trained to care for a bite either. Totally understandable. Thank goodness that medical supply stores sell scaples with no questions asked.

well then i dont think a donor would like getting hold of me and me pissed off. im a sang/psy vamp and well i had an ex that insisted on shoving my head in his chest while i was pissed and told me to bite him through his shirt because i was that pissed. well at lunch i found out that i had broke skin and made him bleed so yea that was a first.

I think we are all prana and psychic vampires at one time or other, we need each other to feed of each other. When someone is at low energy, they may seek others to replenish their levels and at other times they may be the energy givers. I have been called a psychic vampire before, and I have noticed myself do it, I literally watched a person I was with drain of energy and become tired, purely by being with them doing nothing bar talking. I have also noticed myself drain in some people's company, that unexplainable tiredness that just hits out of nowhere, a kind of tiredness that makes one think of going to sleep, never mind walking away. But I have learned, now, if my energies are low, I tend to avoid certain people, as I suspect do others with me.

But, I can't drain energy to order, so I am thinking vampyrism is something I do not conciously engage in, although I can see the benefits if one could, but is it really fair to others, not my kind of thing.

Anerin,

I believe that everyone takes in and exchanges energy on some level... Usually with out their or the other persons knowledge.

If you have the chance read The Celestine Prophecy. The way he explains how people exchange this energy, and if they are not given it on a normal basis, or do not know how to pull down the energy themselves.... how dramas unfold ect. really really made sense to me.

It explained so much of my past interactions with people. It has also helped with my current interactions.

Learning how to pull energy should help you.

Gwyn
