ORIGINAL: SavageFaerie With how almost impossible it is to diagnosis according to what I read, how (Except a House episode) did the Dr finally get the diagnosis, Process of elimination? (pun not intended) Since you asked, and I do this for a living, how they find parasites is by literally looking at a stool specimen that has been specially treated and processed under the microscope. It's called an "O & P" exam, meaning "Ova and Parasites". They actually look for the ova, or the eggs, and the parasite itself on the microscope slides. The reason they're so hard to find is because they don't always show up in a particular specimen. Many times it takes multiple specimens before they're found. Hope you're feeling better soon, dovie! You picked up a good one!
