Sure, they exist, though I disagree with calling vanilla people's relationships D/s. I think that D/s is defined by being a consensual, knowingly-entered relationship on both/all people's parts within that relationship. I *REALLY* think it's dorky to say you have a D/s relationship with your boss at work. [:'(] Personally, I wouldn't want a vanilla D/s relationship - at least *one* of us should be getting tied up and thwacked!

In your opinion are there vanilla Dom/sub relationships or must there be kink for it to be D/s?

If you take a broad definition of D/s as being dominance and submission in a one-to-one relationship, think about a time when a policeman last pulled you up for speeding.  The policeman was likely to be dominant in that exchange, while you were probably submissive - and would be even more so if you tried to make anything kinky out of it!

If you take the narrow definition of D/s as being a dynamic connected with BDSM within a personal relationship then you've defined it as being kink.

Personally, I don't think I'm all that kinky (though many vanilla friends would disagree if they knew me well enough) but all my relationships have been what we would call D/s.
