Status: offline 		Spin, not the worst point ever made, in fact tis true, we have allowed the government to become too powerful. Now we have two things, first of all there are parts of the Constitution that severly inhibit the LAWFUL use of the government's force on the People of this country, however that is assuming they obey the law.

What's more, all they can do is destroy, and in being armed you force their hand. Will they play trump out of turn ? Maybe, but consider this. You live in an area where all your neighbors are heavily armed, as well as yourself. Cops and other government agenteur are afraid to come there. We have our own security, and they can't even come get people or take their property, even for taxes. They can't do anything because they need intelligence, otherwise it is a suicide mission.

Maintaining such a situation for a long period is unrealistic, but for them to realize that their power is not truly absolute could go a long way in straightening things out. I'll reiterate a bit about McVeigh now, just for a moment.

McVeigh was an idiot.  By bombing that building during the day with all the people in it he caused a backlash. Anyone who has had enough of this government shit and is not willing to take it anymore, he set back quite a ways. Laws have changed, it all got harder to do and last but not least it had a very negative effect on public opinion. This to the point where legit unorganized militias were scrutinized.

If he wanted to do it right he would have found more like him and in the dead of night, with alot less people in the buildings, did a bunch of them at the same time. That would have shown organizational skills and of course resulted in that second thought, before the government decided to take more.But no he had to do it his way. We just don't have that much talent for war.

That's the problem when Men have the desire for peace in their heart, not that I deny this in myself. But when push comes to shove, you kill. We waste money on wars for profit, and I mean that in a different way. Went into Iraq and it's nothing but a money pit. All that was needed was tell the Men "KILL". Kill everyone, walk through there and make sure none of them are breathing. But no we have to preserve certain things so we can steal from them better, to finance our green zone, probably has golf courses by now. WTF.

Cut loose, win and get out. That's what Men do when REALLY threatened.

Face the killer instinct, and realize that you are not the only one with it. There are plenty of others.

Just don't kill today. With a gun in your hand it is your choice. If it happens to be an AK47, well so be it.

I guess that just shows there are people on both sides who can't read the op, but to be honest I don't really read his posts and didn't see that.


edited to add....And I should not have said "the libs" as I don't believe all libs think or act one way any more than I think all cons do. So I apolgize for slipping into that one.

Actually, I don't quite know what this thread is about.

The title says it is about Obama lying but the first quote in the original post disputes that:


"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.



This is just another in a long line of recent threads on here where Obama does exactly what he said he was going to do and suddenly conservatives are surprised and outraged.

I think we could put an end to the tragic slaughter on our roads if we mandated that no vehicle could have more than 100 horsepower or a gas tank larger than 10 gallons.

Didn't work then won't work now, when you make them illegal you get more gun running. More non registered guns due to the fact that we cannot secure the illegal ones the idea to level the playing field if to give it to everyone.

Like I said I want a Tank.

Status: offline 		The framers clearly intended that the populace in general, be sufficiently armed to a degree that would allow them to rise up against the government if the government tried to forcibly infringe on their rights. They were in essence saying that there should always be the means available to fight another revolution.

If you want some backup for this, look at how many decades  it took the post-revolution United States to create anything more than a token standing army...iand even then one of only a few thousand men. Only when war with France looked likely, was consent given to raising a large standing army, and that for defense. they even tapped Washington to lead it, who chose Hamilton to be his executive officer. Once the war threat subsided, the entire plan was abandoned.

The intent was from the start, to arm the people as opposed to the government...though Washington certainly felt it was a mistake to not have a standing army of some size, evidenced by his recommendations to Congress upon surrendering his sword. But basically, there was a lot of fear/sentiment against a standing army, as that model looked too much like what they had just finished fighting and a standing army could be used to supress dissent. Look how quicky the mustering of militia put down Shay's (sp? ) Rebellion and the Whiskey Rebellion. .

DomKen, that's not the point, it is simply not the *job-description* of *Our Government* to try to tell The People what to do!
Our government exists to serve us not to dictate to us.

These are used as street sweepers in the drug and gang wars. Police dpeartments will hardly pony up for a fucking mossburg cruiser, little alone assult weapons to fight the thugs on their own level.

Billy bob does not need to "prove his manlieness" buy owning an assult rifle. He can protect his familiy, and shoot game just fine with out needing an assult riffle. These idjits just annoy the fuck out of me.
