Hello everyone!
It seems I tend to post a lot in the Health and Safety area... I fear I'm being slowly torn apart by my own body, lol.  In any case, my post today is in regards to foot cramping. I have been getting *ridiculous* foot cramps pretty much a least once a day for the past month or so. They come on very quickly, produce an insane amount of discomfort, and the only way I can get it to stop is to stand straight up on the foot that is giving me the problem. Most recently, it has become an inconvenience during sex. No matter what position, it seems right when we are getting into the heat of it, BAM - crampage. I thought it may have something to do with my other muscles contracting, but it started happening the other day while I was giving head. Now, I do love to do it, but I've never experienced orgasm like pleasure from going down on someone, so there were no other muscle contractions going on at that point.

So far, I've tried upping my water intake, increasing my potassium levels, and starting back on general multivitamins all in an effort to try and prevent these wretched cramps.

Does anyone have suggestions for either prevention or care for the symptoms? I'm all ears :o)

I used to get some pretty serious 'Charlie Horse' cramps and a weird spasming in my feet.  I found I was low on calcium and would increase my calcium and they would go away.  The stuff with my feet, the doctor's I saw at the time couldn't understand.  I actually had to use crutches until I found those casued other problems.  But I would get muscles or something that went between the first and second toe that would swell up after the spasm and I could barely walk.  Nothing worked accept the calcium and I haven't had any problems since.

I agree with Lockit...if potasium isn't working then it may be either calcium or magnesium; you can cover that by choosing a suplement that contains both.

Ibuprofin for a quick fix until you can get your nutrient levels sorted out.

Be sure to stay hydrated as well. Dehydration can cause serious foot cramps for me.  As soon as I drink enough water, the issue resolves.

Good luck.

In my case it was to do with  serious anemia that was causing  and  stemming from cancer

My doctor has me on quinine tablets to combat night cramps.  It works wonders, unless you are allergic to sulfa drugs.

Sometimes taking a water bottle, freezing it, and sitting while rolling your feet back and forth will help. Other than walking, your feet need exercise too....try picking up a washcloth with your feet or other "grabable" items with your toes.  Try that everyday when you have a few minutes here and there and see if that helps.

I had foot cramping from using the birth control ring.
Definitely consult with a doctor since it's on-going.

There are many causes of muscle cramps. The key is finding what is causing your cramps. A doctor's help may be required. Have you had a diet change or medication change recently? One thing you can try is stretching. Stretch several times a day. This is not cure but will generally help until you can find the root cause.

Possible Causes of muscle Cramps:
Muscle overexertion
Prolonged sitting
Dehydration
Pregnancy
Diabetes
Decreased potassium levels
Neuromuscular disorders, such as Parkinson's disease
Certain medications, such as albuterol, niacin, diuretics, and some calcium channel blockers and antipsychotic medications
Alcohol use

I had the exact problem with severe foot cramps.  I would have to stop everything and stand on my feet until they eased.  Mine was from plantar fascitis.  Got some custom orthotics from the podiatrist.  Had to do all the exercises suggested above plus stretching, lots and lots of stretching.  Had to give up heels for awhile.  But overtime I am no longer experiencing foot cramps.  Hope it helps.

The only time I ever seem to get cramps in the arches of my feet is when they're particularly cold. Warm-bordering-on-hot water and several minutes of doing an uncomfortable squirmy dance at the edge of the tub, or a sudden, intense foot massage have been the only things that work for me, other than gritting and enduring.
