I'm hoping for Ron Paul, Mike Huckabee, or Kay Baily Hutchinson.

In only a little over a months time, Obama has energized the conservative wing of the republican party

You mean the same way we were told Palin "energized" the Republican party?

In fact, I believe you were one of those that told us so.

Exactly...and thanks for remembering my posts.  Palin took a tired old man's tired old campaign and brought out tens of thousands of people..withhout the ned for "warm up rock bands".  In the end, it was McCain being a drag on the conservative base that allowed an inexperieced, but attractive charismatic demeaner, to garner 53% of the vote.

Still McCain did get 58,343,671 votes and 173 Electoral votes..,,and that's a lot of Americans who are measuring Baracks "deeds", not words, his "distractions"...not agenda,...his "line by line elimination of waste as promised"....not his bending over to the commands of Pelosi and Reid.  So far, the new, inexperienced, idealogue who is now in the role of President, is showing just how naieve, if not a danger to the country, his administration is proving itself to be. Already one of the "star" supporters prior to November 4th seems to be showing signs of "buyers remorse" as Warren Buffet cautioned that Pelosi's huge spending program that Barack signed into law will lead us into further economic pain with significant high inflation.

I'm sorry to interrupt the rant, but I think the only important point here is McCain lost.

If the vote was to be held "tomorrow"..I think Romney would be the guy and win all but three or four states.

Romney will never win a contested GOP primary in VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, MI, FL, TN, LA, AR or TX. Go find a group of evagelicals and ask them two questions, without mentioning Romney or anything about national politics, 1) Will you vote for someone you know to not be a christian? and 2) Are Mormons christians? You'll receive enough no and no answers to guarantee Romney will never win against a candidate the evangelicals consider acceptable.

That's the price the GOP pays for hitching their wagon so tightly to the evangelicals.

And as a side note, many Protestants I have talked with do not even realize that Catholics are also Christians.  Go figure...

I remember quite clearly sitting in sunday school as a child, 8 or 9 at latest since I got kicked out at 10, and being taught from a book that detailed how Catholics violated all 10 commandments and therefore were actually devil worshipers. Mainstream southern Baptist church in suburban Atlanta in the mid 70's.

That is where you err... Obama is our President, not our Emperor.

I think it's time for bed. When I saw this thread I thought it said "A Question for Carnivores". LOL

Sadly enough... so did I.  [8|]

Unless things crash under this Democratic administration like I hope they won't but fear they will.

Yeah, there's increasing hope it seems that this might happen.  If Barack continues to let the country sink into the shitter like he's started to, maybe it'll get bad enough that in 4 years the people will actually be fed up enough to demand *real* change.

One can hope.

So let me get this right. You HOPE that things will get worse in this country so that you can get one of your candidates in in four years? Now that's what I call a mature, positive outlook on how you want to see the country go.

Nope, you misunderstand me.

The country is going into the shitter regardless, especially with Barack hastening it.  My hope is that it'll wake people up and demand real change instead of what the Republicans and Democrats have been forcing down our throats lately.

Raiikun -> RE: A Question for Conservatives (3/2/2009 4:45:56 AM)

And for that matter, why ask for clarification ("So let me get this right," you said), when your mind is already so made up as to villify the opinion before waiting for clarification or making sure you understood the opinion?

I agree with Raiikun here. Surprise!  And believe you don't understand the mindset of a growing number of Americans, some of whom voted for the Bama...who are concerned with just how far left his social programs are heading the country.  People (not me) voted for Obama and his promise of "Change" in Iraq (where he has adopted essentially the Bush policy of listening to the Generals) and "Change" in the worsening economic climate...after the Lehman bankrupcty and freezing up of the financial system Mickey Mouse could have beaten McCain/Palin.  What we are getting instead is the same old democrat big government philosophy and waste of the treasury that culminated in the landslide victory for the republicans in the Gingrich revolution.  We don't want the "country" to fail...our families to suffer...and see years of work go down the drain.  But does that mean we have to support the wild, crazy, no democrat project left behind, strategy of Obama, Pelosi and Reid.  No way..Jose'!

We don't have a man with real world experience as President..we have a radical leftist "professor" who studies, listens to all the arguments in public, does his analysis, and than does what he was going to do anyway...but maybe give a few crumbs back that don't sidetrack the course from end-result of the big government power he has worked towards all his life.  And I should want him to succeed...are you serious?
