DemonKia -> RE: What are your flaws? (5/18/2009 9:00:46 PM)

FR, after read thru Again, what they said above resonates for me. & IronBear & cpK69 rendered beautiful little poems out of it . . . . . . I got pointed here via the 'Honestly? I'm Perfect' thread I started in General, & these two threads inspired the following thought, that's kinda a reformulation of what others had said previously in this thread (particularly NorthernGent, above): one person's 'flaw' is another person's 'attribute', even 'strength' . . . . . For example, in that 'Honestly?' thread there was a certain amount of disgruntlement exhibited over the concept of being 'tested' -- clearly some posters found the very notion of 'testing' within interpersonal communication to be somewhere between 'flaw' & 'hard limit', but it doesn't hold that kinda power for me . . . . . . I expect to get 'tested' by life in general, by situations, by tops & bottoms wanting to test my limits, by employers, & last but not least in pursuit of education formal or informal. For me, 'testing' is not a 'flaw', it's just another tool in the packet, as subject to mis-use as any other tool . . . . . . In raising my offspring I learned that 'testing', especially 'testing boundaries', is just a part of human behavior, something everyone does. Sometimes it's healthy, sometimes it's dysfunctional. But that's just my opinion. For those for whom it's a hot-button, hard-limit kinda thing, it is a problem. One of the complexities of humans is that each individual's experience can be both contradictory & valid as compared with another's experience & understanding . . . . . . I think some similar reasoning is possible with many of the other 'flaws' discussed in this thread . . .. . Another example is the label 'bitch' . . . . . Some see this as a 'flaw', some as a 'strength', & some of that varies with time, circumstances, & participants on whatever ends of the 'flaw labeling process' . . . . . . I rarely see my being a bitch as a 'flaw' but those using the term in a pejorative manner towards me seem to believe they are 'flagging a flaw' . . . . .
