When I was younger I never really thought about lables, just always seemed to attract a similar kind of woman, wether it was something short term or something longer. I was Polyamourous and a rather dominant personality. Looking back I wouldn't say I was a Dom back then, I was a Top.
The two primary partners I've had in the last 15 years where likewise 'bottom' but neither could in any sense be classed as submissive. As happens in many relationships, some compromise is made, as so the dominant side of me was shelved. You don't try and Dom someone who isn't a sub not if you are SSC
Toward the end of last year I became single again and have since been working out where I want to go from here, what I want, what I need.... This time whilst outside of a relationship where I don't have to compromise. Being a Top is fun, but it seems like a compromise to me, it isn't just the actions that push my buttons, it is the submission of the right person and that doesn't start and stop at the bedroom door or at the beginning and end of a scene.
Having done a bit of reading and talking to others, it would seem I have thankfully avoided one big Noob error.... namely someone who has experience as a Top thinking he can step straight into a relationship as a Dom. Whilst I maybe a Dom by nature and by desire, I know I have a lot to learn before I will have any real chance of successfully putting that into practice.
Should be an interesting journey and this place looks like a good place to maybe get some pointers when I need advice
