PoeticMotion -> help! (read me ASAP) (3/12/2009 2:23:51 AM)

My lover just managed to lose her nipple piercing.

Does anyone know of anything safe to use to keep her piercing open until tomorrow morning? We thought of a paper clip...is this safe?

Is her piercing healed ? If so then it won't matter until tomorrow but if not she shouldn't be sticking anything other than surgical steel, silver or gold through it and even then it must be boiled or soaked in surgical spirit beforehand. I'm not sure what paperclips are made of but the one good thing about then is they don't have needle point edges to them and so would be far easier to get in than something like a clean safetypin.
Most nipple piercings go just behind the nipple and are random (not running in a straight line under the skin) and can be a bugger to re-insert jewelry, `i suggest she gets herself in the bath and uses lots of liquid soap before re-inserting.

I don't know if this will help or not.  But back when i was in highschool my girlfriends and i pierced our own ears with a sewing needle we had soaked in rubbing alcohol.  But since we weren't allowed to wear jewelry we ran a string through it and kept turning the string every so often.

Non of us got infected ears, but maybe that was just our luck.

best wishes

Paper clips, safety pins, sewing needles.   It's all been used at one time or another.   Not as safe as sterilized surgical steel of course.

Depending on the age and size of the piercing you may be able to get the jewelry itself back in  (unless by lost you mean not only fell out, but completely gone), or you may be able to go until the morning with nothing at all in it.

Dental floss is what I use when I lose a mouth piercing

I have heard before that fishing line can substuite, sterilized of course.

I have never lost the whole peircing, I did get the ball of the ring knocked off, but was easily found and put back.

I have also had to have them taken out for a mamogram but I just reinserted them when I got back.  Getting them back in was a bitch tho since the ring isnt straight nor is the piercing dead straight.  The hardest was getting that damn ball lined back up and holding tight. LOL

Your lover should have paid attention to the person (hopefully professional) who pierced it.  I have never known a trained piercer not to teach the client what to do in such a circumstance.
