I learned how to be snarky in a much more subtle way...it was either that or spend all my time moderated(of course Mod11 is not as impressed with my growth as I am)...

Mike! A little warning before I take a sip of coffee! lol I happen to think that some people are LESS tolerent now of posters than they used to be. But that is my personal opinion. It happens, some get jaded.

The formality of my earlier posts surprise me a bit, the content does too in a way. Sometimes it is like reading a strangers words that I simply happen to agree with because with my memory problems I often don't remember posting.

Most of the time I am pleased with what I wrote but I can't shake the feeling that someone else wrote them. My online journal is similar but since I reveal so much more I feel a stronger connection to the early writings.

Wow Camille, right on target. <Hugs>

As far as formality goes, I used to cap Me and Myself etc..but I don't anymore. Not that I knock anyone who does, I just don't do it anymore.

When I first came to this site, I was very very new to the whole scene even though I'd been playing around in it in real life for 20+ years.  I was submissive to a dominant who was very into all the internet/chat protocol, the slashy speak included.  I'm positive that my naivite came across glaringly in my posts.  But I was also smart enough to read more & post less till I kind of had a clue how things worked around here, so I didn't get smacked down that I remember.

Everything changed when I discovered P&ORS.  I became much more myself, less stilted.  I was stuck on my butt with my foot up on the chair for a few months & things changed in my real life too.  I take myself much less seriously now.  I've met a lot of people who post here regularly.  I will get my back up in a second when someone comes on here & attacks others.  But I also post with a lot more humor.  I can get snarky with the best of y'all.

I haven't read any of my old posts & wouldn't even know where to find them.  Not sure I would want to.  Although I do enjoy reading history, so it might be intersting from that aspect.

Linnae,
You are such a sweet lady. I really enjoyed the short time I spent with you at the hotel. <Now does THAT sound bad or what?> lol I have also changed since finding P & ORS. I am not so rigid.
If you really want to see your old postings, do a search on your name. The last 300 posts will come up. Happy reading! lol

MoGA, when you said yesterday that we could be soul sisters, you were absolutely right!  I've been banging this very topic around in My head the last couple of days.

lol yep

I had to kind of chuckle at that one, too.  This just gives Me more of a reason to know I'm going to be making that drive out there one of these days, whether zapping subs is on the agenda or not.  I got a real kick out of the fact that LaT was thinking the same thing.

quote:

I'll do the easier question first.  I don't really think there are any threads out there that I've participated in that I wish were gone.  I haven't always had stellar answers for everything, but I think I try to give My perspective on whatever topic that is being discussed at that time.  So, even when My twit side comes out, it's still a reflection of Me.  I think it gives other people out there a more well rounded view of who I am on the other side of the screen..  It also gives them and Me a chance to see the places that I may have grown.

I don't care if there are old threads that *I* have participated in, what bothers me is the ones that *he* participated in, that has his old siggy line on it.
I have made some really strange comments throughout the years, but have also given some really good advice as well, so maybe it all comes out in the wash after all.

I did forget to mention that part when I responded earlier.  I can see how the outdated signature could bother you.  Thankfully, there's only one person on all of CM who went down in status with Me, rather than going up.  That sig line was changed prior to his drifting off of the site.  There are still old posts of his that include talking of when we were closer, and a rather good one in the positive experiences forum.  That last one, I actually can still read and smile about because it did become a good memory for Me.

quote:

Now, things I've changed My perceptions on.  I'd have to say the pro category is the biggest one.  It's still not going to be for Me, but I accept more that it is for others.  It was actually a lot of folks on these boards who helped Me with that one.  I'm with you on the certain kinds of play/kink issue.  I'm not going to say that one has come directly from the boards, but more about the fact that I've branched out more.  When it comes to S/m play, I'm something of a jack of all trades type.  I want a hand in everything.  LOL.  I'm not too concerned about perfecting all of it.  (This might be why I'm not so much of a rope person.)  I don't think it would be possible for anyone to be an expert at all of the things I enjoy doing.  I'm satisfied with getting My skill at a certain level and playing within that level.

I am the same way. It doesn't bother me that I am not an expert, or the best at something, but I do want to know what I am doing and have enough experience to be comfortable with my sub during a scene. As far as rope? I couldn't tie a knot if I wanted to! lol

I just had to throw this comment in there, too.  If it were something like whips, there would be a heck of a lot of practice done.  Since clip has them as a hard limit, I probably haven't even had one in My hand in ages.  I can't imagine how long it would take Me to relearn.

You mentioned one thing that I wanted to address.  I think I'm actually tougher on new people now on the net than I was when I first signed up.  I've become a bit jaded by too many people thinking they've acquired certain top skills just because they've read about them and don't seek out any knowledge in meatlife.  I don't think cyber is ever going to replace real life learning.  The net may be a world of information, but the real world is still the one that's outside of the door.

Oh I like this! I would love to use it as a sig. line, but I have no room, what with being the Queen of Geoff's world and all! lmao

I also scoff at those who come on the forums from chat-rooms and try to tell us their way is the only one true way. Probably why I am trying to stay off of a certain thread right now

I actually was on that thread, along with a few others.  Many of the comments on it were mod zapped.   I felt it was probably a good idea not to go back.

I definitely have becomes less tolerant as time goes by. I also have found that I get bored with discussing things a lot faster as I recognize futility a lot quicker. I have honed in on a rule of thumb; If you can not resolve a disagreement or dispute to your satisfaction within three replies, you will probably never be able to resolve it.

I don't know how to answer this question really. I am sure that I have changed, I have learned which threads I need to stay the hell away from and yet sometimes I get involved anyway. I like to think that I have changed for the better but there are things that I used to really believe in that I have given up on due to it's futility on this forum.

I used to get upset with people when they chastized a Noob. Someone came in and made some silly comment and would get their asses handed to them and eventually there would be me questioning why people don't just try to help more instead of treating someone like shit. I stopped doing that, it just changes the spotlight from them to me and then I spend the next few days defending my place on the issue and eventually having to just ignore the thread due to the futility of arguing the point. I don't know if this is a good thing or not I do know that I enjoy the threads more now when I ignore certain things.

As for changing my attitude toward certain things, not as much I would have thought I would. I still hold onto most of the views I came here with in regard to BDSM, and I am still very open and vocal and honest about them, but I have learned that my advice isn't always what is being requested and so I offer my Experience on things instead. I find that even if no one else wants to help I should at least be willing to. Which works for me and today I accept that is isn't for everyone.

I have learned that no matter how much I want to be friends with someone sometimes being Civil is all that I can hope for. I have also learned that is okay to just not like someone.

I have learned that some people here are more interested with people who agree with them then thay are being friends with someone who challanges their ideals and questions why they do what they do, and I have also learned that some people on this site are VERY DIFFERENT in real life than they are online.

I have found that I am less willing to post to threads that require you to take a side. I used to do this a lot. The Us vs Them was a great thing for me, but today I just get too bored with them, I mean how many times can you argue the value of Sub Vs Slave and Master Vs Dom before you realize that nothing you say is really going to change anything.

I think that as I look back over my older posts I just realize that I not as interested in the little things anymore, I am happy with who I am and where I am at in life and basically now I just want to learn about how other people do what it is that they do.

How far back can we go to see our old posts?  I suspect that I was as opinionated four years ago as I am now, though I guess I am nicer now.  Or not!  I know that I am a lot more jaded these days, and FAR more impatient with wankers.

Wow, Steel, I love how much thought you put into this post. I can relate to so much that you have written here. I remember the Us VS. Them days for me too. I would pick a side and be blinded by what others had to say. I try to stay off of threads that there is fighting going on. Too much drama, but if I feel strongly enough, I will wade right in with my opinions. It has to strike a close nerve for me though. Thanks for responding :)
