i heard reference to giving somone a barbed tongue.
Does anyone here know what that is or how its done, what the purpose of it would serve or is it just something in someones imagination?

I think that is a reference to something like being sharp as a whip. It's not a literal term, but a figurative one.

That would be my guess as well.

But I wouldn't put it past someone to put in a tongue piercing that was spiked or something.

I always think of it as being sarcastic. Someone who can cut or jab with their tongue. I like a bit of sarcasm.

I think it has to be a metaphor. Imagine having a barb piercing in your tongue and getting the hiccups? You could perforate your whole mouth ! !

I have been told I have a barbed tounge, as I attack people with words.

It is a metaphor of ancient lineage, going back to Shakespearean times if not much sooner.

yes thats it! i remember them saying it was a piercing, sorry for not putting that in my original post!

Are you referring to tongue forking or splitting (bifurcation)? If so that is quite an extreme procedure and if not done properly (and even in some instances when it is properly done) it can leave you with an inability to speak clearly. It may have already been answered, but the term is quite old and is a reference to barbed arrows and other weapons. The barbs rip and tear if pulled out of the flesh, or if pulled across it. To have a barbed tongue meant that they could flay the skin and flesh off of you with their words, that their tongue/words might not be so bad at the start (going in), but quite a different story as things progressed.

in a word WOW!

i had a feeling it was some serious mod. It sounds like there are a few different possibilities of what this could be. all of them quite extreme.

Metaphoric in origin, me thinks.


"Barbed" is such a popular term in poetry. I admit, I've used it myself.

Perhaps there is a pissed off sub out there who wants revenge or a well trained kajire who under the instructions of her Master is about to give the oral sex performance of her life on a male who has really pissed some one off??????????
